  • Looks pretty good but I can't help to think what it's made of. Chinese industrial waste?

  • -4

Suitable for all ages according to who?
The company in china selling it?

This stuff would be a MASSIVE choking hazard for small children, there would atvery least be a minimum age for use like this site selling the same crap:
    http://www.puttyworld.com/faq.html#Q8

Not to mention I'll bet it's chemical contents has not been cleared for sale in Australia by the regulator NICNAS because it's being parallel imported by some guy in his garage buying container loads off alibaba.

    • +4

Here's an idea, maybe don't leave it around for little kids to play with?

The exhaust pipe on my bike a MASSIVE choking hazard for the kids, but unless they're being too noisy I usually don't let them play with it.

      • +1

Err the OP says suitable for all ages.

With comprehension skills like that I hope you only have theoretical kids.

        • -5

I'm gonna grab a few packs for your kids.

        • +6

Err if the OP told you to jump off a bridge would you?
There's a thing called supervision, we all don't need to Govt/Labels to tell us what's sensible & what's not.

And as you pointed out the link says suitable for >12yos, they made a mistake.

I hate to disappoint you, I have a few kids, and look after a few more. They cops haven't charged me with anything yet & even gave me a working with kids card (or did the kids make me one at school, I forget)

This stuff would be a MASSIVE choking hazard for small children,

So is food, dirt, leaves, kittens, cockroaches, lego, wooden blocks, coins, their own fingers, and an infinite number of other normal objects.

Not to mention I'll bet it's chemical contents has not been cleared for sale in Australia by the regulator NICNAS

I'll bet the same, especially since NICAS has nothing to do with toys or consumer goods. They are not the "regulator" nor do they "clear for sale" like how you sensationally attempt to promote.

    • +3

Suitable for all ages according to who?

Maybe the parents should determine what is safe for their children… after all they know if their child is stupid or smart so this will determine the level of trust.

Not to mention I'll bet it's chemical contents has not been cleared for sale in Australia by the regulator NICNAS because it's being parallel imported by some guy in his garage buying container loads off alibaba.

Any decent parent can determine what their child can and cannot play with. If you rely on regulators to do this your child will end up dead or injured as they don't check 99% of the goods being imported into Australia. Take a look each year when the show is on at the huge numbers of toys they ban despite them having been sold at numerous other shows in other states and being checked by a similar department.

Take some responsibility for your children like they do in other countries and don't rely on some pencil pusher to do this for you.

    • You are a choking hazard for normal people when making statements like that.

  • If fact is says ages over 12 on the linking website!

Regardless of age warnings, this stuff is illegal to be brought into Australia if it hasn't been cleared by NICNAS.

    • +4

"The National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) is responsible for assessing industrial chemicals"

I can't see how silly putty could constitute an industrial chemical ?

      ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/china/8944028…, this must contain some metal to make it magnetic. Do what you want if you are an adult (whatever you want to do / ingest / insert, whatevaaaa), but if you have a kid do not take chances.

    • -1

this must contain some metal to make it magnetic.

      liquid oxygen is magnetic…

      • +2

Not really no, it is not magnetic but paramagnetic :) if you want to get down and dirty.

        • -2

          Not really no

          Yes really, yes…

        • @jv: I cannot see it from work, but what is the name of that movie?

        • -1

          @misu p:

          Paramagnetism of Liquid Oxygen

        • +2

@jv: Not to mention that liquid oxygen would still be a terrible thing for a child to play with :). It does build character though.

        • @misu p:

          still, better than liquid Helium…

        • @jv: Backy any chance on discount on some Liquid Oxygen?

        • @supabrudda:

          Make your own…

        • @jv: you must be the positive pole of a magnet jv…

          Nice video

    • +4

we've all got plenty of things that aren't ideal for little kids to play with.
But since anyone under the age of 16/18 years is a kid, then why wouldn't you let a 12yo play with it?

I was mowing lawns by myself when I was 10, I didn't drink two stroke mix.
If you treat kids like idiots, that's what they're become.

Too late to warn the parents of members here :-D

we got a live one here, it is biting. How about the fact that until some hours ago this was suitable for all ages???? so STFU and GTFO.

    US$2.56 Shipped

Might have to get Becky to sharpen her pencil on this one…

    • Nice spotting,

I've got a baby shower coming up - surely this stuff is safe for unborn kids, since there's nothing on the label that says otherwise :-)

Seriously this looks like the sort of thing a 10-12yo would love.

    Cheaper elsewhere as posted above.

  • lol, only on ozbargain would some slime in a tin become so political!

some of you guys are arguing as if you spent years researching & developing the slime your selfs!

cheaper elsewhere everyday on ebay @ $3.54 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Super-Strong-Magnet-Putty-Silly-D…

  • Hi Ozbargainers,

I just modified the coupon code. Now price goes down to USD $2.49, AUD $3.43.

Thanks for your attention to our products.

    Becky

    • And you couldn't offer this in the first place why exactly?

      • +2

        Hello Spackbace,

Actually this price is below our cost. That we offer USD $2.49 now is because some people found cheaper price elsewhere.

Thanks for your questions and if there is anything I can help, pls feel free to contact me.

        Becky
