  • Its not a bad basic ssd, its also available for $55 through msy. If you're going to use the pc as a media centre I recommend getting a decent sized hdd for storage. You can get a WD blue 2 or 3tb drive for $98 or $132 respectively

    • thanks, it wont catch fire will it?

      • No other cases reported from the thousand+ reviews on Amazon or anywhere else. Probably an issue with the person's computer and maybe power delivery more than the SSD. Otherwise, very unlikely. Mine stays very cool.

  • I'd be extremely suprised if it did! There would have to be some seriously high Temps involved in setting an SSD on fire. You basically have a few wires, printed circuit boards and a number of ram chips and that is pretty much it. I did a couple of searches and it seems that if an ssd burns it's due to a bad power connection from where someone has hooked in their cable

  • +1

Would you like fries chips with that?

240GB is the sweet spot nowadays. $86 dollars will get you one.

And people don't know, there is a big speed difference between a 128GB and 240GB SSD. Why? Larger-capacity SSDs have more NAND chips on them than lower-capacity counterparts. With more memory chips comes more controllers, with more controllers more simultaneous reads/writes.

The 240GB SSD is twice as fast as it's half-sized cousin (350 MB/s sequential write as opposed to just 150)
