Buying online Mesh Office Chair

Hi Ozbargainers

I have been looking to buy a mesh office chair and found this one which quite tick the boxes for me.
The specs on http://www.langria.com/mesh-executive-office-chair.html look impressive and the green/white colour quite fit my home office style and my frame.

Found a few sellers on eBay offering $150 -$170 delivered from NSW. One of them:. I note there is 30 days money back guarantee but I think if I were to ever use this, the postage to send this item back to NSW would be prohibitive (I'm in Melbourne).

I don't feel confident buying a chair without having tried and seen it myself. Also haven't found any reviews online about this chair. Are there any Ozbargainers who may have bought online/seen/tried this chair (or similar) could share your experience with me?

Thanks in advance!

  • If you're interested in the Herman Miller mesh chairs, which are a bit of a step up in price, I can recommend both the Aeron and Mirra 2. They can occasionally be found for around $500 second hand, sometimes cheaper if you're willing to wait, I got an Aeron for $380. They are both very comfy and you can tell by the quality that the chair will last a very long time. The Aeron I got was from 1997 and still looked like it could have been a few years old.

So although they cost more they will last a very long time and are extremely comfy.

    • Thanks phew. Had a look online, yes the HM's really look like the 'rolls royce' of chairs :) Did you find yours on eBay? Wouldn't mind having a 'test drive' of these. Would you happen to know if there are any retailers having these in their showrooms? in Melbourne?

      • Yep on ebay, I set up an alert for herman miller chairs listed in melb and a good buy it now eventually popped up.

I tried them out at living edge in richmond. Loved them both but liked the mirra 2 more. The reason I was looking at the chairs was due to back problems caused at work where my current chair was only making it worse. In my situation the price was worth it to alleviate my back problems, would never have paid that much if my back was fine. But having owned both chairs now I would easily pay those prices even if I didn't have back problems.

  • have you tried the mesh office chair that CostCo sells? i've got one in the study and i find it comparable to the herman miller aeron mesh chair that I use at work in terms of comfort. not as many adjustable bits so ymmv with the costco chair

    • I couldn't find a photo of it on Costco Australia website but can find on their US sites…one that sells for US$99… is that the one?

      • It's a metrex brand one if that's any help.

        • Just bought the Metrex Mesh Chair from Costco for $170

Loving it so far! Thanks for the tip
