Short Circuit 12V Deep Cycle Battery

hi there

I accidentally short circuit a new deep cycle battery whilst wiring it up to a box. Only for a spilt second but giving me a big massive spark of course. Now i'm wondering if theres any long term damage to the battery?

thanks

    No.

  • Nothing to worry about. The super high current draw was only for split second so it wouldn't have had enough time to over heat anything or to over empty the battery's charge.

There are tonnes of home mechanics that love sparking up their jumper cables and battery terminals for shits and giggles. I'm in Canberra where the fishermen do a lot of naughty things to the pesky carp that they catch.

  • Sorry man, it's junk. I'll recycle it for you.

    It's fine :)

  • haha thanks for the comments. cheers

  • If you want to see some sparking. Try 12v batteries connected in series to make 2000v DC https://youtu.be/8hwLHdBTQ7s
