Chrome Cast 2 Casting

Gday dudes and dudettes

I am not really familiar with Chrome Cast and how it all works but it seems to emphasise the mobile device thing so i have a couple of Qs i hope yas can help me with.

Basically, what i am wanting to do is to "cast" so show what is in my Chrome browser but from my desktop PC, not a mobile device, and then cast that to a larger TV on the wireless network.

What i specifically have in mind is - im going to get a beIN membership for watching Euro 2016, and i want to be able to stream that to a bigger TV in the house from my desktop PC. Is this the sort of thing that would be ideal to use chrome cast for or are there other solutions/issues ?

Cheers y'all !

  • Just another thing - i have an Xbox One so if it's possible to stream from PC to that with what i was talking about above, that would also work if there's an app or something - not sure if anyone knows?

      Hmm, couple of options maybe.
Access internet browser via normal way on Xbox —> go to beIN streaming site.
Get Foxtel Play on Xbox and ensure you have a subscription which includes beIN.

      • oh yeah i didnt even think about using IE on the xbox and loading it that way.. i'll have to try that out - thanks!

Get the chromecast extension for chrome

    • thanks! says it's in beta but i guess it works?

      • yup works perfectly and very fast especially for chromecast 2

  • As others have stated, the Chrome Browser works great. You can also drag and drop any video file into Chrome and it will work.

You can mirror any Android phone/tablet screen to your TV. iPhones/iPads are not as lucky- can only cast with certain apps.

  • The beIN application (iOS/Android) or the web page does not natively support Chromecast so you need to cast the "tab" of your Chrome browser to the Chromecast. If you have a congested local WiFi network then the streaming to your Chromecast can be substandard. Conversely if you have an AC enabled router/modem and get a good WiFi signal then it may work fine.

In my opinion, I would get an HDMI cable and bring your laptop to your TV and connect it directly. The PQ will be better than any Chromecast stream. (Assuming you have a laptop)

  • Just an update, the Xbox browsing to beIN didnt work cos Flash is disabled in Edge on Xbone :(
