  • Bad link…

  • Oops… Thanks for pointing that out. Updated

  • Thoughts on the drive? Or get what you pay for? Wanting reasonable speeds for regular 3-5gb transfers

  • Would this be suitable for sticking all the kids' movies on and playing through a laptop? Great capacity and easily transported, much more so than an external HDD.

  • Bugger! Was looking for an extreme 128…

  • Let me get the ball rolling…

I remember my first drive was 256mb and it cost…

256mb.. That's massive! I remember my 128mb nano PNY. Set me back around $120

Flash drive or hard drive? ;)

      • 256mb flash drive.

My first hard drive was 12gig. I was the envy of all my friends. I was the first to have a drive with double figures.

I also had a 17" CRT. Now that really blew them away.

        • Doubt I'll be the best story on this site, but anyway:
First pc in 1995, was bought to run win 95. Pentium 75 (75MHz). Cost my folks $3.5k coz it included a CD drive and had a printer. I've forgotten how big the hdd was, possibly 8gb.

I still remember when dad was driving me to high school 1 day and on the radio they mentioned that Intel had created the first 1GHz CPU, this was when 333MHz was about the norm.

        • @Spackbace:

That's impressive. Mine was a Pentium II 400mhz.

Had a DVD drive. And a sub with two tweeters.

Picked it up from Gateway - remember them - in their flagship store in Sydney. It was ex-display going for $1699.

Like company, it didn't last that long!

        • @Spackbace:

Actually hard drive definitely wasn't 8gb for the first one, probably only a couple of GB
