  • When are you looking to go? Are you wanting return or one way? From which city in Australia?

Air New Zealand seems to have regular sales for flights to Buenos Aires. Or otherwise one of the cheap sales to USA might be a decent option.

Emirates may have a sale coming up on their new route to Panama City.

Otherwise Skyscanner suggests the cheapest is around $1450…

  • Venezuela is on the verge of breakdown due to a financial crisis and shortages of everything so I wouldn't pick Caracas as an entry point. And anyway several airlines have stopped services there.

There's only one direct flight from Australia to South America - Qantas flies from Sydney to Santiago, Chile 4 times a week starting from $1,400.

Air NZ has an Auckland - Buenos Aires route but like the Qantas route you'd have to buy additional flights to reach Quito/Bogotá/Caracas.

If you have a strict budget I'd suggest looking for a cheap flight to the US and connecting from there. I'd look for flights to the southern hubs (Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta, Miami) for the most flight options to South America.

My family loves going to South America and have had some great deals In the past. Mum once got a return to Colombia via buenos aires (which is awesome because she wanted to stop there) for $1100. Pretty insane if you know what that normally goes for. She was even fortunate enough to be upgraded for one leg.
My advice would be to see a specialist travel agent. They do have amazing deal. Pity aerolineas doesn't fly any more as it means the route is much less competitive.
