Windows 10 Mobile Is Being Infuriating

I upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile on my Lumia 640 XL bought from this very nice deal. Microsoft Support knows nothing, but is anyone here having same problem?

Microsoft account is not detected by Outlook Mail, Outlook Calendar, and People apps, causing People app to crash. Adding the Microsoft account will say it was successful, but is still not added to the apps.

    Shoulda gone Android…
(Yes I know this is an unhelpful comment)
If I was forced to give advice I'd say reformat the whole thing to factory settings.

    • Hahaha, thanks. I have done that way too many times with my old Lumia!

Sorry to hear you have issues with your 640XL. I too have an 640XL and also running windows 10 mobile. No issues so far. Suggest you do a phone reset and start from scratch again. Yes it is a bummer but i think this is the best way to iron out account issues like this.

    • Pleased to hear you have no issues with yours. My only concern is I don't want to lose HERE maps, unless I go back to 8.1 temporarily. What do you think about HERE apps not supporting 10?

Initially i thought what a bummer to not use HERE maps and HERE transit because i tend to use these apps very often. But the windows maps on Win10 is not bad at all and the Win10 maps also have bus transit time and stuff….I have grown to like it. As for the GPS navigation on win10 map, it is actually very good, to my surprise (personal opinion)…so I did not miss Transit at all.

Where the ******* did you fellas get 10 for the Lumia? I have had zilch about it from Microsoft

Hmmm, when you went up from WP 8 to W10M, did you do it from scratch or was it over the air?
Doing major updates using OTA can be bit finnicky I found (regardless of the OS). Try hard reset?

And I released that that's what other people were all saying… :P

I think many people suggested once Win10 is installed on the phone, do a hard reset, start fresh and things will be a lot better. This is what I did too.

Yeah, I was like, I wanna comment didn't realise that I was pretty much posting what others have posted.
That said, the problem seriously sounds like a problem from using OTA update for major updates.

        • +1

Well….I agree these kind of updates should be done a bit smoother for end users but thanks to many forerunners who have gone through the bad experience and share the ways to mitigate these kind of bad experiences that people like myself can use the phone with minimal issues.

        • @jeeg: I kinda think major updates are hard to not mess up. That's why when anyone tells me about a major update (be it Windows or whatever), I usually say, clean install is the way to go. :P

        • @Oversimplified: I don't disagree :)

Same problem for me when upgrading my Lumia 640.

I just formatted afterwards and started from scratch, was a hassle but it's great now.

    • do you have any issues connecting to public wifi hotspots?

Try installing Windows Insider app to get latest builds. Might resolve. Also download updates from Store. There are often updates to Outlook, People and Phone in there.

Successful change. Formatting, font, clarity an absolute marvel. Not finding some things. Will consider a 'groundup change' in the future

    • sorry for the spam, have you been able to connect to public wifi hotspots?

  • Anyone having problems connecting to public WiFi by any chance?

    • might have to do a hard reset in that case
