I recently traveled overseas and spent way too much time checking out various hotel booking site offers. Cheaptickets.com with coupon worked out best for me. You need a fee free card for US$ purchases such as 28 Degrees to take full advantage.

Do be careful that prices are in USD.

Just FYI, as its US dollars, a hotel - 18% on cheaptickets works out the same as going to Expedia.com.au using the 10% off HSBC offer. (SAVE10HSBC)

I believe they are one and the same - besides the interface being identical, the CheapTickets website had the same sale expiry countdown clock on it as Expedia for a hotel I just booked in DC.

In the end I went with Expedia because a) CashRewards & SAVE10HSBC code and b) I don't have an international fee free card.

The HSBC code doesn't want to work for most of the big chains - I had no luck with Marriott, Hilton or any of their sub-brands.

      • They are the same. I once called the hotel to amend my booking and they told me that I will have to contact Expedia as my booking was through them. However I booked it through Cheap tickets.

Customer service of cheap tickets is s*** they put you on hold for hours and never answer back.

        • I just realised that Wotif also appears to be under the Expedia umbrella (same UI, rates etc) but has 8% CashRewards (international hotels)…wish I'd known that a few hours ago!

    Pays off to compare…

9 nights booked 2 days ago:

    $745 via hotels.com
$622 via cheaptickets.com (SPLASH) actually US$459, but I'm paying with a fee free card
    $680 via expedia.com.au (SAVE10HSBC)
