Aldi WA stores set to open 8th June in Western Australia

Kwinana, Mirrabooka Square, Belmont Forum and Lakeside Joondalup will open on Wednesday.
Doors at all four stores will open at 8.30am and close at 8pm.

Any tips to new shoppers at Aldi? Is it worth avoiding for a few weeks to escape the crowds?

Aldi is pretty meh these days. Prices aren't even that good.

    • I'm not too well versed in Aldi, but I assume they can offer a cheaper basket of goods because most of their products are home brand?

Also I can bet WA will have higher prices than the rest of Aus.

      • I wonder if that is true, similar to Ikea franchising in WA & SA.

Heh. 6 months ago there was a big blurb on their website about how proud they were of national pricing, no matter where in Australia you lived.

It looks like it's quietly been removed.

Be prepared to pack your own groceries! They scan them but you have to put them back in the trolley/bags.

The staff believe they are superior to you.

They are and don't you forget it ;)

(Nephew works for Aldi !)not WA or SA tho…

Part time- as he is a Uni student.

  • I noticed they have set up some queuing ropes outside the Aldi in Belmont forum… is there any reason to be the first and queue up .. I tried to search to see if store openings do giveaways or discount vouchers to the first X shoppers - but see no history of that from what I can tell. Am I wrong is it worth looking on day 1?

  • Glad that WA is finally getting Aldi. You will start noticing that Coles/Woolworths stores close to Aldi will magically start reducing prices (so you can even benefit if you don't shop there).

    A few points for newbies

Aldi does charge a surcharge for using a credit cards in their stores (not sure if it applies to Debit)

Aldi offers 60 day returns on Special buys on non-food products(the quirky stuff you will see in their weekly catalogues - which many OzB's find handy if you decide to try out one of their TVs and you are not satisfied with the performance)

Aldi special buys are a bloodsport especially if the item is super cheap and in limited supply. So unless you are prepared to wait a hour before the store opens or push your way to the special buy you are most likely going to miss out.

    • Don't forget you will also need to either purchase bags, or bring your own for packing.

  • Aldi hummus. Just awesome
