Ads in OzB Reflecting My Browsing History

I clicked on an item in my OzB Newsletter email. The web page posts were surrounded, top, right and bottom, with ads for a company whose website I visited yesterday.
When I logged in to OzB, they disappeared.
But, why, what is the process that these particular ads show?

The title of the post should probably be

Ads in (most ads-supported websites) Reflecting My Browsing History

See Behavioral retargeting for more information — this seems to be pushed by most advertising networks. To resolve this, you can either

    • Opt out retargeting from your Google account or by clicking on the (i) icon at the top-right of a banner ads.
    • Opt out advertising all together on OzBargain by going to your settings page and change the preference
    • Opt out advertising by using an adblocker plugin, app or proxy.

Makes sense for ads to reflect users potential interest (based on their history). Kogan built his entire company around that.

    It is called Retargeting.

Excellent ROI so very popular for advertisers.

I know it's a typo but after googling the word "poon" surprisingly it still works.😀
