There have been many reports from previous years of AusPost selling your personal information from this "Lifestyle Survey" to 3rd Parties that have abused the information to target vulnerable people (eg signing up elderly for mobile and claiming its free etc) and much worse.

You should always check the terms and conditions of all surveys you enter to see how your information may be used.

    • Thanks for the valuable information brendanb.

Few things to mention from that article dated Aug 18, 2013
Brokers told The Courier-Mail their access to the Australia Post survey was cut off without explanation around September 2011.
Australia Post continued to sell survey information directly to clients but had restricted the supply of phone numbers, he said.

Regarding scams, It's best not to give any personal information including credit card, bank account details over the phone.
I read about a lot of ATO scams. Even the email and phone number comes from official ATO website.
