the $1 TPG landline offer

Hi, just 2 questions to anyone who has already got this.

  1. This is not VOIP right - its normal copper line?

  2. There was discussion initially whether you could port your number. TPG website had conflicting terms. Can any1 confirm they ported?
    thanks

  • 1.a. This is not VOIP right?
Right. You use an ordinary landline telephone with this.
    1.b. its normal copper line?
No. A normal copper line can be used to send/receive faxes or use dial-up internet.

    2. port your number
I think that if you currently have a normal copper line then you might not be able to port your number.

    1. It's normal copper from your house to the exchange. After that, it's TPG VOIP so even if your Internet is down, the phone will still work. I recently help my parent made the switch. My mom is commenting that the line quality is not as good as regular. Something about noise in the background.

    2. You can port your number for free.
