Go tpg mate i am with them and they have been flawless for me on NBN and would definitely get my recommendation.

they seem to of changed there plans recently as well as they used to charge $79.99 for 25/5 and unlimited and also include unlimited calls.
Now they are $69.99 without the calls.

Might upgrade to that myself from 12/1 unlimited

    • If a static IP address is important to you just be aware that TPG currently does not offer this on their NBN plans like they have always done on ADSL plans. Have had to move away from them because of this. I was ready to upgrade to NBN when I spotted this in their fineprint. If a static address is not important then I think they would be a reasonable choice.

  • Does not matter what provider you choose from my understanding

NBNCo runs the infrastructure, the company you choose simply bills you for the service they buy from NBNco

    • +3

incorrect while NBNco does run the infrastructure isp has to buy the bandwidth from them and sometimes they don't buy enough to suit the needs of their customer during peak hours like in the afternoon which results on congestion.

I know cause Iprimus suffered from it massively during peak hours before i switched.
my download speed dropped and my ping for gaming went into the hundreds compared to non peak of 2-5 ping.

That is why i suggest paying the $100 connection fee and go month to month with no contracts incase it turns to shit like mine and many others do.

  • I had Dodo NBN for about a year from the start of 2014 to May 2015 but it was only the 12 megabit unlimited service. Generally it was actually quite reliable, I could max out the connection easily and there were very few dropouts. The only reason I changed was to get a faster plan and I'm now on 100 megabit but with Skymesh.
Surprisingly I've had more service disruptions with Skymesh than I ever had with Dodo.

  • Doesn't matter which provider, just get month to month and try.
Service reliability can depend entirely on where you live.

  • I live in Darwin. I swapped over from regional adsl (slower than dial up), with Dodo, to Dodo NBN. They tried to slug me $350 for breaking my contract early. There was meant to be notes on the account saying that there was no contract payout fees. I fought it with over 4 calls and got the money credited. I never had an issue with them before. I found that when it was running at full speed it was excellent— I had the top plan and top speed. When it was slow nothing loaded- not even on my ipad. Now where I live we have Telstra. It is exactly the same with just as many drop outs. I reckon that all providers are the same! Telstra owns the lines so if they feel like turning it down they can!!

    • I still think Dodo is the cheapest unlimited plans on the market. Plus the hardware price is only a once off payment. Don't forget with NBN you can just have a landline attached and pay no extra with Dodo. You pay for what you use.
