Samsung Galaxy S5 Phone Repair (Not Charging) [NSW]

So I got my Galaxy S5 wet and now it won't charge. Aside from this it works fine.

Just wanted to know if anybody had any advice with what my best option would be

  • Where is the best / cheapest place to get the phone repaired (incl local or possibly sending it somewhere?)
  • Is there a DIY guide to troubleshooting the issue or replacing the charging unit?

Thanks in advance

  • My local computer supply place replaced the USB/Charging port on my HTC M8 for the princely sum of $50— there were plenty of videos about doing it yourself, and once I got the parts, I may have saved myself $20- but I'd rather let someone else do it (and wait 2 days for them to get parts vs. 2 weeks if I'd ordered them myselves).

    • $50 is very reasonable. Can you let me know which shop this was? Thanks

      • Pippos Technology (should've pointed out, the small country town 1000s of kms from you, but I'd have thought local repairers in Sydney may be around the same mark? sure, their rent would be more, but so would the volume of customers).

  • You may have luck charging via qi wireless. Get one of them qi stickers and chargers. My note 3 refuses to charge via usb but works fine wirelessly

    • Wow I didn't even know these existed, very interesting. I suspect this would solve my problem of not charging but I would like to still be able to charge via cable

      • Yeah, keep it in mind to try when they won't even look at it for $100
