Getflix - Should I Get It?

I can get a lifetime subscription to Getflix for just over $35. Should I get this or is Netflix winning the war against Getflix?

Been with them for a few years, lately been having constant outages and issues. Not to say they are not the best or they are a bad company, they give constant updates and great support. But Netflix are definitely making their lives difficult. For $35 its not the worst risk to take, but I think they know their times running out hence the lifetime deal.

Yep, it's constant cat and mouse now. To the point where it's really annoying to have Getflix turned on at the moment because the chance that Netflix will throw errors at you are so high.

It was an awesome service, but when my subscription is up I won't be renewing. And I'll probably be cancelling Netflix too because their Australian catalogue is pretty lousy and hardly ever gets new content.

      • Thanks for the info, is there any alternative or its just a wait and see at present?

All alternatives are copping the same treatment because they all use the same method. Netflix is now actively blocking the IPs of these services almost as quickly as they can acquire new ones.

Honestly I'd wait and see for a while.

        • @Cheap Charlie: VPNs will still work (well, as long as they're not used by heaps of users and then blocked as well) but you're then stuck routing all your internet traffic halfway around the world and all the buffering/speed issues that come with it.

For me trying to do any streaming via VPN leaves me wanting to tear my hair out.

It's had lots of issues lately. Probably about 2-3 days where most things are broken out of every week and a half or so. It's not Getflix's fault - Netflix has cracked down on things - but it's definitely not a great user experience.

I'd pass. Getflix is annoying at best now unfortunately.

I know Netflix is under crazy pressure to play this game, but their Australian catalogue is so poor in comparison to their US catalogue that anyone who has had Getflix and gets it blocked will probably end up cancelling Netflix too because it feels so gimped to have the Aussie catalogue after seeing what the US get.

I wouldn't be surprised if this move ends up hammering Netflix Aussie subscriber numbers.

I'd say it's a good time for free trial hopping. Personally I use dns4me, but they're having the same problems.

I've been using CactusVPN and their SmartDNS service, apart from a recent 1-2 week period it has kept Netflix USA working. They're currently offering 54% off, still more expensive than Getflix but it's working; https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253260

  • Just checked Getflix support page. It says:

    • USA netflix started working again a few days ago.

    • They are working on better long term solution.

    My opinion:

The $35 lifetime deal is worth it even if they only end up providing access for the USA from now on, though having all regions was many times better.

But who knows if Getflix will even unblock USA reliably, in the long term, with Netflix being forced to crack down on unblockers like this.

I haven't heard of other unblocker companies doing any better than Getflix, though. If you really want USA netflix and $35 isn't much to you, go for it, otherwise you might want to wait a few months, see how things pan out.

  • Something worth considering. If customers abandon companies like Getflix, they run out of money, they close down, they stop looking for a long term way to dodge geoblocking. The movie studios pushing Netflix get to continue to charge aussies a much higher fee for their products simply because we're aussies. Long term, we either lose or have to fight a more maritime type of battle.

  • Last week I got good few days Netflix usage from UnoTelly, this week no luck.

I'm pretty sure I quit UnoTelly and continue with Netflix. Might consider another content provider as well. I hope to keep my expenses less than $1/day :)

And to OPs original question, no, you should not buy that service :)

  • Where can you get the lifetime subscription for $35?

Nevermind I'm too impatient and got it for $39 USD here: https://stacksocial.com/sales/getflix-lifetime-subscription

  • DO NOT get a lifetime Getflix subscription! You WILL NOT get access to all the same regions as monthly subscribers. Currently you only get 'United States 4' which never works! I understand they need to make money, but if you're not getting the full package with a lifetime subscription, and they aren't making this clear when you sign up, then they are engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct. Not cool!
