I'm assuming you have a cover letter for the jobs you apply for, not just the resume?

  • Go on fiverr and search for visual resume. If you want to grab the attention of a recruiter and they don't have any of those stupid requirements like ".doc files only" then I would recommend also having a visual copy. Especially good to print out on 120+ gsm paper and hand deliver if you are trying that as well.

Some of the visual resume people on fiverr are just using certain software, google around with your IT skills and you can find it.

If you want to pay more, you can get a graphic designer to actually design a custom one, try 99designs.

For my critque, you need to talk more about your interpersonal and communication skills. Maintaining and installing is not as sexy as interpersonal kills and interacting with clients. Talk about how you feel a sense of accomplishment when resolving issues and making clients happy.

  • hi nardoo, your experience seem to be good but you need to give more information on what skills, software and hardware you have experience with. This way the recruiter can see how many can be used in the new role.

  • for me i like to see key achievements you have had in a role.

  • What are your skills? What software can you use? add that on!

On my resume I have listed the subjects I have done all throughout uni (I am about to complete my Bachelor of Information Technology)

  • "Some University" and "Some High School" seems a bit unnecessary and (at least as I read it) framed it negatively. Get rid of "Some" and just have "High school, University"

I'd say they have removed the actual details for privacy.

Oh, right. I didn't read it as X University, but rather as Some (A little bit of) university.

        Fair enough

  • I think it would help if you add a new section just before education to outline your key competencies and skills.

I can see some spelling and grammar mistakes. See this line for example —

e.g Audit and test IT equipment to validate that the customers ('s) device was (or is ) functioning

Grammar and prose is important. Why not try:

Performing in-depth diagnostics and basic repairs of laptop/desktop hardware, & configuring and installing OS's for clients

And also this, sounds a lot more difficult than it really is!!

Disconnect and reconnect peripherals with proficiency (what does this mean?) to ensure that no damages were dealt to the customers PC hardware and peripherals (huhh… if you had to point out that merely disconnecting ethernet plugs from a server rack is going to damage IT equipment, you'd have to pretty clumsy, wouldn't you?)

    ehhhh… why not try:

Fulfillment of general Level 1 tech support requests to external and internal clients
Rolling out operating system updates, driver updates, security hotfixes and upgrading hardware as required by client
Maintain network security by configuring firewall rules, web content filtering, malware protection and user admin
Perform daily back-ups of sensitive data, and basic data recovery
Accurately logged issues and asset information into Microsoft Access database

Most, most MOST importantly, you need to describe how well you work:

Achievements: Commended for providing excellent customer service; client was kept up to date with job status and consistently resolved support tickets in the expected timeframe

I would suggest tailoring your resume to the specific job you wish to apply for.

Please fix those first and then work on expanding on each of your job responsibilities, and link them with some achievements.
