Looking for New Phone; When S7 Edge Getting Cheaper?

So my LG G4 is currently in for warranty repair/replacement. At this point, it could be a good opportunity to sell it and buy another.

My top priority is having a good camera and a fast device. It sounds like the S7 edge would be the best bet, but it's pricey. Kogan had it for just over $800 recently but I hate Kogan and I still want the price to drop a bit more. Any guesses on how much it could drop soon?

Also I actually considered buying a cheapo xiaomi note 3 pro because fast phone with great battery and super cheap, but the camera was a deal breaker for me.

My crystal ball says tomorrow it will drop to half price…

It's a super popular flagship phone from one of the largest phone manufacturers. It will be reduced when it's either superceded by the S8 or the sales slump (and that doesn't look like happening).

If you want the newest tech you have to pay for it. If you want a cheaper phone get the last gen (S6 Edge).

  • I have a Sony Xperia Z. These things don't die. The camera is excellent and the phone doesn't lag, unless you have a million apps on the phone or your internal storage is full. In my case, I switched out an old 16gb microsd and chucked in a new 64gb one. Transferred everything internally into the SD card and it works like it's brand new.

Only issues are occasional overheating and problems with the lollipop software which keeps cell standby on a drains battery like wildfire. This is easily fixed by reinstalling the OS or turning wifi off. Otherwise, I absolutely love the Xperia series. It's a hella lot better than my old LG phone which was prone to bricking/crashing and a pain in the arse all up.

If you need a phone now, I'd look into the Z series, particularly the Z3+. However, all the phones in the Z series are plagued with the horrid overheating issue. Or you can wait until the Xperia X comes out.

    • The z1 or z3 compact are awesome phones. Only problem I have is the power flaps are loose

  • The OnePlus 3 is screaming fast with a crazy 6GB ram, Snapdragon 820 and a clean stock interface. If you can get your hands on it is a really good phone, and it's got rave reviews so far. Cheaper than a S7 and equal or better specs (except for 1080p screen)

    • Oneplus is a company I will be avoiding. Past of horrible product availability, bad manufacturing quality and bad warranty support.

    • Actually was watching how poor the one plus 3 uses its 6gb RAM and wow was it pathetic.

The worst part I have to say is that it was reloading all the apps/pages all over when compared to an s7 edge and took twice as long to do the same test function.

  • Question: When S7 Edge Getting Cheaper?
Answer : when s8 edge is released

    Too obvious.

  • Wait until the note 7 comes out, should be in a few months time and maybe the price should drop then

  • JB HIFI just dropped the S5 prices to $399… For 2.5 years old phone. I guess if you can't find a good phone plan from Telstra/Optus, just buy it from eBay when you get 20% off.

For example a good tactic is to let the missus use any old phone and put her on $40 10GB month plan on Optus and then get your phone with the smallest data on Optus and combine with the data with missus.

You'd be paying $71/month for local stock 32GB S7 Edge for the coming 24 months… Depending on what plan are you now and how much you pay now… It may or not make sense :)

For me it made sense with my 6P, I just pay $48/m and have enough data. At the time the phone was quite expensive and this way turned out OK.
