Best Price for Prius V

Hello everyone,

This website has saved me lots in the past, so following the legacy, here it goes.

After lots of search, we decided to buy a brand new Prius V. We have decided the model and colour. We dont need any extra accessories.

My questions are,
1. The RRP on Toyota's website is about 39k. What would be a reasonable (and realistic) price to offer the dealer in order to begin the negotiation?
2. Would I better off trading my old car (which may worth about 2000 at the most on private sale)?

I would appreciate any help/advice.

Thanks in advance.

    offer 80% of the RRP.

We have bought a Rukus last year the final RRP with all accessories we after is $32,750 we bought it for $32,000 and we saw of the finance paper they earn $1,500 out of it.

I think it will be a good deal around $34,000 with few accessories throw in.

Finance papers, or any papers the business manager had, don't show commission off the metal. More likely that was possibly the finance commission, though how you found that out I don't know… Someone dropped the ball there

Also, a Ruckus?! You looked at everything else and bought a Ruckus?!

      • It Called Manager Details Audit, they put it down in the manager office prior their manager come in and meet us so we take a look at it, Commission has not been calculated.

This is a family car and Dad decide to take it. This has been bought and please don't judge why this and that, Thanks.

    • 32k as a starting point with 34k as the target sounds like a nice guide. Thanks.

    1) this all depends how, serious you are. If you're serious and ready to buy, ready to sign etc you'll be in the best negotiating position.

    2) nope, what retails for $2k will be traded for $250. Only a wholesaler will buy it, dealer makes nothing off the trade. Sell it privately.

    • Ha! 2k to 250!! Thanks for the heads up. Would've been a nasty surprise!
