2016 Honda Civic (10th Gen)

The new Civic is here, but I haven't seen much talk about this on here yet. Just opening up the floor to discussions.

I myself am in the market for a new car, and will probably head down to a dealer this weekend to give it a go.

Has anyone purchased one yet or is also currently looking potentially purchasing one?

I'm not in the market for a car, but 10th gen looks a whole lot better than gen9

  • Link to the new Civic

Looks like a mix of the Type R and the Gen9 civic, but in a good way. I'm liking the burgundy colour.

  • Wow such a big change!
I hate Honda for a few reasons. But i also love them for a few reasons! They are great cars but they usually make you pay extra for every thing! This model seems to have a better basics package. My mates 2011-2012 civic is so basic inside and bland not even a USB port just AUX!

The engine is typical Honda design. Lower torque but higher revving engine VTEK yo! No problem in that seeing as they are made well and made to rev! But some people seems to prefer the lower end torque of a corolla.

The older models where having major issues with gearboxes blowing (CVT). Always going to be some issues with any car! Seems to be fixed just need to change the gearbox oil regularly. Or buy a manual.
There old autos are fine my mates civic done 340000km with out any major issues like engine or gearbox. That was the twin carby model the at the same time Honda released a fuel injection model the same year but the carby model had more power.

They hold up really well over time but when stuff does break parts are a bit more expensive even for generic.

Either way Honda is always going to have a steady stream of customers. Honda cars are reliable more so then a Toyota! (now i will be down voted hahaha) But not a car a lot of younger people think about buying for some reason? To me all new cars looks the same now any ways.

I guess they needed to find more funding for the F1 team so they stepped up there game lol.

    • Love the facelift, they're definitely going head to head with Mazda.

I was initially pretty convinced with the Mazda 3 but the new Civic made me do a double take. The Civic looks very modern and the interior is definitely miles ahead IMO - I wasn't a huge fan of the "Mercedes-like" LCD screen in the 3. And you're also right about the Civic offering better value even for the entry level VTI.

A colleague of mine pulled the trigger a couple of days ago, got his for about $24-25K. He said the CVT isn't a noticeable issue - a very smooth and quiet drive based on his experience. Hoping to test drive one this weekend to see for myself :)

      • hey mate.

Yea go for it i think the civic will be more reliable then the Mazda! They also seem to have dropped the price. Before base model was about 28k for auto. The CVT goes well in the Honda because it revs the engine higher it suit the style of engine more. the VTEK gives better highway driving.

I love the look of the accord Euro but they are expensive.

        • I'd pick the Accord but it's a little bulky for my taste and I'm just that much used to driving small sedans. Perhaps this will change when I get a bit older haha.

Just booked in a test drive for the Civic this weekend, will update the thread then :)

2012 civic is so basic inside and bland not even a USB port just AUX!

My 2012 civic has a USB port. Though mine is a vti-L, it would be strange not to include it in the base model….

      • Hes is the last of the older shape. 2011 model sold in 2012.

        • He must have the gen 8 model, my family has that car too.

  • Cool car like a euro.. Prefer the old type Rs

  • They are asking $25k for a sohc 1.8 ~100kW sedan with a cvt… hmmm….

  • Purchased one, just waiting for delivery date which ranges from this week up until July. I can't wait to try the 1.5L turbo engine out.

    • Congrats! I'm assuming you got the RS?

What are your car's specs (colour/extras) and drive away price if you don't mind me asking?

      • I actually got the VTI-L in Rally Red. Negotiated for around $30000 and that's with tint and mats included.

        • Ah fair enough, that's a decent price. Thanks for sharing!

    • Nice!
Let us know how it drives when you get the keys

  • Just bought myself a vti-s around 27k from larke hoskin. Engine is smooth and responsive. Had a pleasant experience with the dealer there. Let me know if you need a good sales person

    • The engine is the same one as 8th generation and 9th generation…It works so good that Honda keep it in basic model…But 27k…You should pay 3000 more for the Turbo model…. In US at least you will have a 2.0L engine.
