Any Monitor Recommendations?

Hey everyone,

Currently looking for a 27" monitor with around 75hz refresh rate + with 5 ms or under for around $300. I'm in hopes for a 1440p monitor for this price but i doubt there would be any, so a 1080p would do. Any recommendations?

  • You'd have to go with a minor Korean brand… The QNIX QX2710 LED can do 75hz and is a 1440p monitor.

      QNIX warranty conditions:
"Off-grade panels have some defects on the panel.
*Warranty exception : All defects about the Panel quality
Example) Tinted Spot on the black color background, Defective Pixels, Backlight bleeding
*Except for Panel quality, any other issues are covered by our warranty policy".

With monitors - you get what you pay for. Yes, you may be lucky. I would buy a smaller monitor with lesser specs, but with better warranty. Or save more money.

The seller does provide a slightly more expensive variant if you want slightly less risk of getting dead pixels or an off-colour display. It's $350 dollars.

For those who are new to Korean LCD's should read this guide on whirlpool

there are risks from buying imported electronics but experienced buyers should already know and not need it to be pointed out. If you don't know then please do your own research

Again, please read the guide above and note carefully:

The process I recommend you take when ordering a perfect pixel

        1. Double and triple check the pixel policy for the listing you want and confirm everything you are not sure about with the seller…. Some newer listings allow more dead pixels before they are classed as DOA… ideally, you want to buy one guaranteeing no more than 1 dead pixel
        2. Nicely ask the seller to carefully check you monitor for backlight bleed and dead pixels in the PayPal message before buying reduces the probability of you getting shipped a uncheck monitor

Quick round up of alternative monitors that fit Op's criteria (this is recommended reading as well)

All the 'decent' brands are beyond $400, the Korean LCD's are your best 'cheap' options short of buying a used LCD from Gumtree.

      • I know people who has the QNIX and they are very happy with the monitors. You gotta get the pixel perfect version or it is basically a lucky draw. Read the pixel policy carefully.

        • Perfect Pixel policy thoug can vary. In my case, I bought this one and the listing said it can be anywhere between 0~3 dead pixels. It's now with the courier and will be here in Aus on friday..

To guarantee you will get no dead pixels, you'd need to have somebody check for you before it gets shipped out. Good luck finding such a nice person to do it!!

          But fingers crossed.

        • @scrimshaw:

This looks like the QNIX 2414. Seems like they all use the same panels. Overall i rather take 144hz over 1440p anyday. Smooth as butter.

        • @scrimshaw:
Did you get it yet? Any dead pixels?

        • @ezarc:

Nope, none! The panel is great. The colors are… average, nothing to write home about, but colour accuracy is not my concern since I use F.LUX to dim my display all the time anyway. But I'm not a display connoiseur so things like colour accuracy is not something I can write reviews about.

The stand is expected, a little crap and flimsy compared to my BenQ G2420HD (which is also pretty basic). It tilts a little but there is no height adjustment.

The seller allowed me to refund and rebuy the monitor when I got mailed a 20% voucher code from FeeBay, so all in all I spent $201 dollars. +1 for their customer service.

  • QNIX seems risky, I would go crazy noticing that dead pixel if it had them.

I was looking around and found the BenQ RL2755HM, i can pick it up for $250 each (I'm planning to buy 2x of whatever monitor i decide to buy) It's still 1080p but it'll do. I heard it's overclockable to around 74hz without any problems as well. Though it is risky to overclock monitors but yeah. Anyone have any comments about the BenQ monitor?

    • Why do you need it to be 75hz? The usual requirements will be 60, 120 or 144. I dont think there is any difference between 60 and 75. But over 100hz, you can really sense the smoothness.

      Review from a reputable source.

      • I had a 144hz monitor and i tested it out. Around 80hz is when i stop differentiating smoothness from anything higher, maybe somewhere in my subconscious i can, but when i tested it out and concentrated on it i find anything higher than 80hz is somewhat of a waste 80hz and 100+ hz i dont really notice anything, but i do end up getting headaches and sickness from playing games at 100 fps+ though.

    • Overclocking results will depend on the display. Not all of them are made the same.

  • Currently there is only one monitor on the market which ticks all of the following characteristics: 27in, 144Hz refresh, gaming (1ms), build in blue light presets (practically eliminates eye fatigue), 2560x1440, SINGLE FAULTY PIXEL warranty even for one dead or stuck pixel: BenQ XL2730Z (it also supports AMD FreeSync). You would need to compromise some of the specs, as it is well above your budget at $750. Some BenQ models are currently the only products on the market with pre-purchased specified replacement warranty spelled out in writing covering even ONE faulty, dead OR bright pixel. Yes, as one would expect, you pay for all that.

(BTW, I am not clear about Acer Predator monitors pixel policy, it may be similar, I could not find definitive reference. Acer pixel policy publkished on their Web for other, not Predator monitors is below industry standard).

The BenQ RL2755HM you mentioned is very nice, however you compromise: lower resolution (1920 x 1080), industry standard pixel warranty (does not cover a single faulty pixel), less inputs, no FreeSync, no VESA mount, standard refresh rate. But it is considerably cheaper at around $300. So, you have to compromise somewhere, decide what is more important, you will not get everything within your allocated budget.
