How Much Are You Paying for Your Health Club Membership?

I think the reason gyms don't post the membership costs online is so that they can charge people differently.
Its also prevents people from shopping around before visiting a particular gym.

I am a member of Goodlife health clubs in WA. Before signing up to them (Fitness First then) I was able to bargain the price down as I knew how much my friend was paying for his membership at the same club including getting them to waive off the joining fees.
Upon expiry of my contract and Goodlife taking over Fitness First my membership prices remained the same even though new Goodlife members were offered cheaper membership prices. After pestering sales from some time I was able to get the RAC discount from them which they claim is the best price I can ever get.

I currently pay ~$33.52 a fortnight or $16.72 a week. This gives me access to all the passport clubs in Australia during weekdays and all clubs on weekends (The one at Brookfield place is platinum which I cant access during the week).

I still feel I am paying too much. Are there others at Goodlife in WA who are paying less than $16.72 a week for a passport membership?

P.S. I use this gym as it is close to where I work. Additionally the Gym has a pool at the cannington club + I can take friends on weekends.

      Do you even press bro?

  • My wife used to have a gym membership. She got one of those free trials for a month, but then after the one month, she keeps getting pestered by "gym consultants" to sign up, so she went on gumtree to see how much people are selling their membership for and then asked the "gym consultant" to beat the pricing. I think hers was about $12 a week.

    • Is this for goodlife or some other gym?

      • Some other gym. But you can go and check on gumtree for people selling Goodlife gym memberships.

$57 a week at F45. Worth every cent.

    • Looks like they enjoy every cent as well. Earn $300,000 a year from a $100k investment.

    • What level of fitness do you need to start F45? I've been looking at signing up but i'm not sure what to expect.

      • Anyone can do it! People in my club vary from super fit to overweight. You are motivated to push yourself but never compared against others. Which club are you thinking of joining?

        • Thats great to hear! Was looking at one on the southwest side of Brisbane - thinking about the club at Sherwood. Very excited to start it

I left Goodlife last year but was paying around $28-$29 a fortnight after getting them to match my girlfriends membership fee. This was in SA.

$199 for 12 months in Melbourne

  • I'm paying about $10.40 a week at genesis bentley as part of a pay upfront for 10 months. It doesn't have a pool but is by far the biggest gym I have ever been in.

    not a health club - $15 a week @ Redcliffe Pool.

  • How are you paying? M2M or annual?

    • its M2M now. Was on a 1 year contract when I started.

  • I pay $32 a fortnight in Canberra for club lime.
I have access to all club lime and club pink (all female) gyms accross the state. Around 20 clubs I think.
I also have access to aqua aerobics, an Olympic sized pool, spas, sauna.
Amazing deal if you ask me!!!

  • $15.90/week Swim member at MSAC. Works of $5.30 per swim/sauna/spa as I go 3 times/week. Nothing beats a hangover like a good spell in the sauna - worth it just for that!

Could get cheaper close to my work, but the little bit extra is worthwhile to have access to 2 x 50m pools all year round and a dry sauna, as opposed to 2 x 25m pools, with the outdoor one only during summer months and a steam room only.

  • $31.95 a week at Virgin Active. $$$ but extremely convenient for me and I like it. I go at least 3 times a week.

  • I'm on $12.90 per week at Goodlife in Vic. I have access to all clubs in Australia + can bring a friend on the weekend for free.

    • Is that for everyone, or have u been a member for ages and they charge that price from way back?

      • I took over someone else's membership. I have only been going since the start of this year. No idea how long they were signed up for.
