Hungry Jacks Free Toppings on a Cheese Burger?

Hi All.

Saw on some Ozb threads that at HJ's you can add salad + beetroot on the burgers for free.

So today I asked for salad on my cheeseburger but got turned down. Any ideas how the free toppings work? Thanks

Technically according to Hungry Jack's, you can only add veggies for free if the burger already contains some form or veggies.

For example if you get a Whopper, you can ask for extra lettuces and tomatoes since it already has it.

Although HJ's can add lettuces and tomatoes for free on a cheeseburger, since it has no veggies on it normally, I believe they can refuse. That's what I read but not sure.

    • I believe that is what happened.

    You have to say please.

    • I did. and the girl at the counter didnt turn it down, it was the manager who walked by who said no. The manger said if the salad is added essentially this becomes a whopper jnr + cheese…

      • Wow that is so stupid. It is a different bun and patty. I've never had that problem, only once the cashier had to check woth his manager.

I was getting the lettuce Tomatoe and pickle added to the bbq cheese bruger for free, but lately the local store has often refused.
Maybe they had a memo about it, since even the guys who used to do it without issue now refuse.

        • @albanyson: Interesting. Thanks for you reply! Last time they did hesitate a bit so hopefully they weren't weaning me.

Buns and patties in cheeseburgers and whopper jnr's, bacon deluxe etc are all identical.
They used to have those shiny buns for cheeseburgers but I believe they have got rid of them and gone back to the standard sesame seed buns now.

The patties have always been identical. There's 4" and 5" patties, the larger ones being used for Whopper sized burgers.

        • @bonezAU: Thanks. This pic shows no seeds, but the lastest HJ vouchers have seeds. Perhaps there is a transition, my local took awhile to get new fries

          @Savas:
Last free cheese burger I had (Saturday)was the smaller smooth bun.
Only once have I had the sesame bun on a survey code cheese burger….I presumed that was a mistake, since I asked for the L,T,P addition.
I was told once by one of the more friendlier easy going guys at local store that they won't add the free additions, since it effectively comes then as a whopper junior.

Incidentally, the code is still the same, but can on my be used once. Even if we both do the survey properly, we still get the same code and once entered, the second same code is rejected as being redeemed or used it not valid etc.

@albanyson: Thanks for the information. I love the long conversations we have about HJ.

@albanyson: thats exactly what the manager told me. guess jnr is the way to go. btw i always forgot to use shake n win haha

  • When did this crap start?

I've been adding lettuce & tomato to cheeseburgers and breakfast muffins for years

so now they are refusing to do this ?

  • Nope, nothing new. You can add salads to any burger, no restrictions.
It's really up to the over zealous managers to deny you.

    • Even on survey bbq cheeseburger?

      • There's no written rules saying you can't

        • I'll try that again.
Always get refused as even once I didnt ask for a bbq cheese burger, just a cheese burger on the survey and then it was taken away at the drive though window before given to me and changed for a bbq cheeseburger when I gave them the survey code for it.
I asked the difference and was told one has bbq sauce and the other has mayonnaise???

        • @albanyson:

BBQ cheeseburger has BBQ sauce and mayo
Normal cheeseburger has ketchup and mustard, no mayo.

        • @bonezAU:
          Got it, Thanks…
