Hisense 58" 4k TV Using as a Monitor, Can't Get My PC to Run 4k Resolution, Help Please

Hi guys,
I just bought the Hisense 58"(146cm) UHD 58K322UW and connected it to my pc via the HDMI 2.0 slot.
Im just using the onboard graphics on my Gigabyte H110M-H motherboard.

Now when I try to set the resolution to 3840 in display properties the screen goes black, then shows the resolution set to 3840 in the top left corner for a second, then it goes black again for another 5 seconds then just reverts back to 1920 resolution… and thats it.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Thanks

Onboard graphics is the problem. You'll need a dedicated card with 4K support.

    • I had a feeling that'd be it :P. Thanks mate.
I dont play games, just want to surf the net and watch movies and youtube, can you recommend a cheap video card which should be sufficient?

      • The tv has four hdmi ports - two of them are v1.4 so you could try one of those. I suspect that as previously said you're trying settings that aren't properly supported by the card. The screen goes black as it is showing the 'click this button if you can see it' screen, and since you neither see nor click it, it reverts back to the lower resolution.

You could also have a hunt to see if there are updated drivers for your video card, but if neither updating the software nor trying a different hdmi port helps, then you'll have to stick with the lower resolution until you can get a better video card.

        • Thanks yeh i tried all 4 hdmi ports, no luck.
          I also updated the drivers…

    According to below.

I think GTX 750 or r7 260X is prob the lowest price you can go that supports 4k resolution.

    http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=55…

1 x HDMI port, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096x2160@24 Hz
    * Support for HDMI 1.4 version.

    • So doesnt this mean it should work on my tv?

      • Not entirely, as your TV may only support 4K at a particular refresh rate.

The add-in 3D card drivers provide for much better support & control of devices connected to them.

  • try swapping the ports about, ie, run the pc moniter thru hdmi and run the tv thru the dvi port…
chances are, even with a u-beaut card one, of the moniters wont be happy…

    • Im only using the one tv as a monitor

  • Ok i solved it, I was using a 10m long HDMI cable, i just changed to a 2m cable and now its working! :)

  • it's always the simple things
