Best value/Highest data cap mobile Internet

Hey Guys,

Moving into an area which apparently does not have any sort of proper internet access, even if it is in a urban area. NBN not available, cable not available, projected ADSL2+ speed less than 1mb/s, optus $70 for 50gb not available.

So I'm in a bit of a pickle. My last option is mobile internet, even though it is very expensive.

Are there any good plans out there? I need the highest data cap available, hopefully at something that doesn't cost me my first born son. I'm needing caps of something probably greater than 15-20gb/month.

Someone please save me.

Cheers

Have a look at Vodafone, they have some fairly generous plans.
Also has anyone been able to confirm if the Optus' $70 for 50GB will technically work in locations it says it won't, providing you use someone else's address when signing up who does live in a compatible area?

    • Hmm reading around, I did hear about this. Would be good if that was the case.

Hi, I am a Vodafone & Telstra sim buyer and my best bet is getting specials and then keep getting new accounts. The last Woolworths (Telstra) deal was $0.16/GB. However, that was best case and probably the best this year.

Look out for the $30 Telstra sim pack for $5, only around 3GB these days, but lots of Play credit. I have around 9-10 dead Telstra sims so they have never rejected an activation. Same with Woolies. I also have a 12 month Vodafone sim bought through HN (double data), this keeps me going inbetween bargains.

See below is a cut and paste from my XL sheet. I will jump in around $3/GB (if there is nothing cheaper).

Good luck and welcome to Malcolm Turnbull's wonderful NBN (not)

    • Thanks thats really helpful.

Am looking at the $90 for 25gb atm. I noticed however that optus has the exact same plan. Does anyone know the difference in reliability?

  • I can't recommend any plans, but when you do get one, you're going to want to squeeze every megabyte. So I definitely recommend installing an ad blocker to save data. Also consider using a data saver mode when possible - such as the Opera Turbo mode, or the official Chrome data saver extension - although they mostly don't work for secure sites.

Do this for all your devices.
