Planning to rent a car at this Saturday for 1 day, maybe a Camry, maybe from AVIS or Thrifty (I'm living near Southern Cross station, Hertz is a little far away)

I've got a good recommendation! Car Next Door. Check it out, I used it the other day to hire a van and paid like $30 for a few hours. Cars are available from $25-$50-ish a day, or $5-$10 an hour. You pay $0.33 per kilometre and that includes petrol, it comes with a petrol card if you need to fill up and you never have to actually meet the owner of the vehicle.
I can refer you to get $15 off but thats about the max you'll get - if you want that chuck me a PM.Alternatively rent a bomb would be alright. I think I saw that they were $33 a day, but i am unsure what that includes. It really depends on how far you will need to drive, if its into the country I would look at a proper rental company otherwise if its in the metro area car next door will be better.
might wanna try vroomvroomvroom and chose pickup from budget @ southbank which is just down the road from southern cross. It can be significantly cheaper at times.
