Please help me to choose a modem router.

Hi,
After asking for help with ISP, now I need some more help with getting the right modem router as the plan I chose to go with the provider doesn't cover that. The most important criteria is compatible with ADSL2+ from TPG. My budget for it is $200 max,but I would like to keep it as low as possible. It should have dual band and maybe NBN compatible for the potential use in the future (not really a big deal if it doesn't). It doesn't need to have a fancy look but must be reliable, good for always on usage, consistency.
There are about 3-4 people living in the house, and all of us have at least a smartphone, a table and a laptop, in total, it could be about 12 devices are continuously connected to the network most of the time, so I think I will need something which could handle at least 10-15 devices at once.
I saw a few posts where people recommended some models which are around $300, I really wonder if there is any big difference between $200 and $300 ones.

Thank you,

In a nutshell the difference between a $100 and $400 router is going to be the ability to deliver high speeds to a lot of devices simultaneously.

In reality it's likely that your ISP connection speed will be your bottleneck though, so the router matters less.

In all honesty if you aim for ~$150 and try to hunt down the best name brand router (Netgear, Linksys, DLink) for your budget it'll do what you want it to.

I gave you a cheaper option in your other post..
    TP Link TD-W8980
    It's a great value modem/router.
Doesn't have AC wireless or beamforming, which is what you start to get in the $200+ range.

    • Thanks, is it worth the money to get the D9 or it's better to stay with the one you mentioned above?

  • D7 will be sufficient for your situation.
