Soniq U65VX15A 65" (NEW) Vs SONY KDL60W850B 60'' (Used)

JB Hi FI got a deal on SONIQ 65'' Ultra HD LED LCD SMART TV for $998 with 3 years warranty

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

one of my friend is selling his 2 yr old sony 60 inch full HD LED LCD Smart 3D tv for $950 ( SONY discontinued this model)

here is the link. http://www.sony.com.au/product/kdl-60w850b

I'm confused, any one can suggest me which one is better. i know as a brand SONY is much better than SONIQ.
But SONIQ is tempting me for Ultra HD and Big Screen 65 inch with 3yr warranty.

I am not into Gaming. Just for Movies and general viewing.

TIA

  • and five inch smaller is another no deal.

    • That is what i am thinking.
      Ultra HD Vs FUll HD
      65 inch Vs 60 Inch
      3yr warranty Vs No warranty
      current model Vs Discontinued Model

Only Thing is SONIQ Vs SONY

  • Take the soniq!

  • Sonic because lg panel
Don't going down. loss each year

  • Soniq.

  • SONIQ! I Still have one that's 5 years old. No problems

  • Get the soniq in this case/

Rather than everyone just fixating on the panel, consider the processing electronics and scaling engine amongst other things. Sony is miles ahead of Soniq in terms of the signal processing. Sony make professional high-end broadcast television equipment, Soniq are a low-end house brand brand focused on low cost. You might have the best panel in the world, but it will look crap if it is all pixely and blurred. You need to view them side by side to make an informed decision.

  • Neither mate. Steer clear of budget brand TVs like Soniq. Generally I would recommend a Sony, but the 850wb was an absolute piece of crap, it used to have really bad production problems with the screen where there were big cloud like images on a black screen and the image was generally distorted. I would be much more keen to grab the Aldi Baune 65 inch ultra HD tv on sale this weekend. It's around the same price and from all reports its a decent set. It also has a no questions asked returns policy if you don't like it, and then you can go out and buy another set.

  • I did not expect so many ppl will recommend Soniq.

You are on a budget site, what do you expect?

Went to JB HI FI and had a conversation with sales person. According to him Soniq is Crap. He suggested me not to buy.

  • Which one do you think looks better?
    What one do you like?
I would go the sony everyday of the week but I've had a good run with their gear.
I think it would have a better picture quality and that's no.1
    Size screen not as important

Ps google reviews for these models

Pps ask your mate for a discount
It's second hand after all and your making it easy sale for him

  • Good Guys have a Hisense 58" UHD @ $995 at the moment too.

  • Have a Soniq 32" LCD FHD the first time they went on sale (2009?) and still as new. Also have a Pangoo (virtually unknown brand, bought it from a warehouse) 42" FHD LCD since 2011 and still as new. Both used as monitors and run for at least 12 hours a day - longer on school holidays and weekends. Lucky never had any issue. Hopefully my lucky streak continues with the 65" UHD Soniq sitting on my table 1m away from me as a monitor. Beautiful crispy 3840x2160@30Hz display on a cheap GT710 video card. So go SONIQ!

  • I have that Sony TV and I love it. I did get it around 2 years ago now.. but not a single hiccup with it during my daily use of the unit. I really love it.

At the time, I did a fair amount of research and it came down to this particular Sony TV for good bang-for-buck TV and I haggled the price between Good Guys and harvey Norman.

I really want to suggest the Sony, but I have no idea how Soniq TVs are these days and I guess you would have to consider the warranty and any new features that are on the new TV (although my Sony has all features I need, pretty fast internet use of apps such as Netflix, beautiful picture, and the speakers are good. I use a hefty surround sound system I put together though)

Let us know how you went.

  • Ended up Buying SAMSUNG series 6 55inch FHD SMART LED LCD TV from JB for $1100 with 5 Years Warranty.
