Best Electricity / Gas Provider (NSW)

In light of the the recent 1 July price hike, wondering what you guys think the best electricity / gas provider is given the current situation. I'm with Energy Australia and tossing up whether to switch. Prefer the cheapest reliable provider but not one that is too dodgy. Please vote in the poll and comment on your thoughts. Thanks!

  It depends on your state. If you are in Victoria there's no guessing. You just use the Switchon website https://compare.switchon.vic.gov.au and plug in 12months of your smart meter data and it will tell you which company is the cheapest. I have done this and Powershop is still cheaper than the cheapest one calculated by Switchon — because I take advantage of all of their online specials throughout the year. If you are in other states then I can't really help you. Each state and each distributor will have different rates so your poll is kind of pointless.

  In NSW, what would be a decent discount to negotiate on electricity and gas on no-contract basis?

        Powershop for me. You would just have to call and threaten to move to another provider unless they match.
