In this class I will show you how to create an ASP .NET MVC application very quickly using the latest tools from Microsoft. We will build and ASP .NET MVC To Do list using Visual Studio 2105 and SQL Server Express 2014. Both of these are free downloads from Microsoft. I will show you the following steps:

1) How to design a simple database using SQL Server 2014

2) How to design a data layer for you program using the Entity Framework

3) Design a user interface using scaffolding from within Visual Studio

4) How to make some simple customizations to the program

You will be amazed how quickly you can build a fully functioning program using these tools. See you in class!

  I don't think VS2105 and SQL2014 will work together nicely, unless they have really serious backward compatibility

  For what it's worth, back four years ago while doing stuff around MVC 3 I found the MS lessons to also be a good introduction. Can't comment on these ones, but if you want an additional resource MS had some good offerings of their own.
