Monthly Mobile Number Porting for using the $1 Woolworths $30 pre-paid sim

So I have multiple of the $30 woolworths prepaid and each month I would need to port to a $2 sim from another company and port back to keep my number.

If I ported to say Optus then once the old woolworths sim stops working do I need to put in the Optus sim in my phone then port out back to my 2nd woolworths sim? or once my old woolworths sim stops working I can put in my new woolworths sim and still port it over from optus.

i.e. does the optus sim need to be 'activated somehow in my phone before I can port out of optus again?

I'm not 100% sure I get the second option but the first option is how you do it:

1/ port to optus, wait for woolworths to stop working.

    2/ insert optus sim

3/ port to new woolworths, wait for optus to stop working

    4/ insert new woolworths sim

I find online is easiest however it seems duh gummints gives me special treatment every 6 months or so because the ID check fails and then I need to call and use exactly the same ID and the person on the phone explains that duh gummints wouldn't take my ID.

Because terrists/drugs/asio or something and because i change SIMS all the time :D Bonus is certain providers make you wait for 45 minutes while a woman who sounds like she's on heroin asks you if you've heard of the internet every 30 seconds. This is in between unpleasant screechy music the pipe down the phone line to "encourage" you to use the internet.
