Looking for a recommendation for a laptop

Hi, looking to buy a laptop to just work on some coding, don't really need a high end or anything so budget is sitting at 300-800 or so.

This would have been more than what I needed but based on power/price it would have been perfect(I think). Looking for something similar in that regard, any suggestions are good. I've seen the lenovo 460 deal and it's just a little pricey, looking for better

Have been looking at refurbished on eBay as well however I really don't know laptop CPU details and thought to get some quick recommendations.

I'm also waiting on upcoming deals as well so time isn't too much of an issue.

Thanks

(Some laptops in the list, such as the ThinkPad 13, isn't sold in Australia yet. This list is using American pricing).

The processor performance isn't super important for most programming work, so you should get by even using a second generation Core i3.

If your budget is 'ultra low' I'd try the Lenovo Edge E530 which is a quasi-business notebook. Build quality is average (rated 6/10) but it has an excellent keyboard.

    • Not trying to hijack your thread OP,
I just wanted to share that the lenovo website IS listing the 13 now. Was looking at it as an alternative to either a carbon or the t460s. It really is a sweet looking machine and it even has USB type C! Shame it didn't tick all the boxes I needed.

      Thinkpad 13

      • Starting from $899. Dayyum. Australia Tax strikes again.

        • Aye, pricing was another thing that kept me from pulling the trigger. Speccing out the 13 to what I wanted would put it not very much cheaper than the X1 or the T460s and it would still have the caveats that were going against it. :(

    • edge e560 is a much better alternative and in his price range

  • A second hand Lenovo T410 or T420 will the do the job perfectly fine.

  • If people are willing to keep suggesting I'm still looking for suitable deals.

The recommendedations I've checked on eBay are pretty good, just hunting still

I've otherwise taken a look at lappylist it's just a little constrained??

If there's any chance for light gaming, although I probably shouldn't need to consider
