  • You cant before the 19th.

    • Isn't that the date its released? I'd have thought they would be available for pre-order by now.

There's an embargo apparently, everything to do is a "leak".

So yes they should all become available on the day (or at least most of them) but in theory we shouldn't know before then. I'd expect early next month for shops to have a decent supply of them in most of the popular brands/variants.

        • I thought they were only available from nvidia for starters… $299 usd founders edition 6gb

there will be 3gb from aib but not as yet

$249 for reference designs which is a fair deal… i dont see $50 extra for founders to be worth it

@tonyjzx: Nupe, Nvidia and partner editions release same day in the case of the GTX 1060 last I read.

        • @Diji1: I read this too. Both founders and AIB versions to be avilable July 19th

        • @tonyjzx:

Also you have it wrong, reference design is founders edition. It's just a fancy way of saying "reference card". It should in fact be CHEAPER. But people are seemingly willing to pay for it so can't blame Nvidia for making money off it.

I'm guessing with the "Australia tax" we will see it around the $400-450 mark. With the higher OC better cooled cards coming in on the higher end of things. Either way it directly competes with the 470 on current pricing so unless there's a BIG price drop again it makes it a no brainer really.

We still get shafted on pricing, but say thanks to AMD for forcing their hand and offering this frankly fantastic value point option so early in the life of the new architecture.

        • @Yekul:
          You mean the RX 480.
I'm hoping the AIB 480 8GB come in under $400 au like some of the reference ones.
Also, the 480 4GB version has 8GB installed on the reference cards (which you can unlock with firmware flash) - we'll see if AIB cards have the same. If so, hopefully we can get a good RX 480 4GB card with much better cooling, an 8pin power connector and be able to flash firmware to unlock the other 4GB for under $350 would be perfect :)

Theres no verified performance benchmarks of the 1060 yet. I wonder if it will beat the 480.

Whoops sorry I meant the 970, editing it.
