      And honestly I've only ever had Oporto once, that was a burger! I'd hazard a guess the whole chicken is close to Nando's, and probably about Nando's pricing! Which would mean this should bring a whole chicken under $10 :)

      Edit: Called the local, they said a whole chicken is $15… $7.50 for a whole portugese style chicken is a bargain :)

      Not much different to a woolies chicken, tbh. It's cooked in an oven and then when you order it, they put it over a grill for a bit.

      I think they're awesome.
      Much better than any chicken from a supermarket.

      I've spent the $15 quite a few times for the privilege.

      Just tried it at the 24hr oporto store in Adelaide, the manager said the deal works everywhere but SA. Sounds like a big pile of bs to me.

          Yeah probably the same reason for both things. Krispy Kreme SA stores are owned and run seperately by On The Run, who also have a lot of Oporto stores (all the 24/7 petrol station ones), amongst other things. Will see what a non On The Run store says tomorrow to see if it's all SA stores or just On The Run SA stores excluded. With the Flame Rewards it's just easier for them to exclude all SA rather than just the OTR stores I guess, probably be the same deal with the promos.

          Tranmere SA store can do it, however it sounds like they weren't made aware of the promo so it would probably be hit and miss at other stores (especially OTR).

    The two local Oporto have closed down near me and for good reason their offering was sub par.

    My SO had Oporto when it was owned by the founder and it was completely different taste wise and was original.

      My two local ones closed down too :( one was because they were forced to due to renovations though. Sucks because it's my favourite fast food. I have to drive over half an hour away for it now.

      As far as the Oporto I have gone, they ask if you want chilli basting. They don't give the free chilli sauce anymore.

    I rarely ever have Oporto anymore. I find it to be over priced for what you get.
    And I also used to work there so it's never been the same since.
    I would never ever eat at the Melb Central store. I used to work in QV and was assigned to clean Melb Central… things may have changed now but for me it's will always be no.

        i think the main difference is when you add the piri piri.
        other than that it's put on a rotisserie then grilled over gas.
        If it were me i would prefer a good charcoal chicken then add the piri piri ;)

    Can't help but wonder what the turnover increase is like with this promotion.
    Also with the increased sales, if the profit is similar to usual or more due to sides also being ordered.
    Oporto would be wise to look at the figures here and decide if they've potentially opened a goldmine when it comes to this promotion.

    Both Melbourne CBD locations were sold out when I checked around 5:30. I could see people turning up and being turned down, me included. The QV one sold out at around 3pm, I was told.

    Got one from Newtown, NSW at around 6.30pm. They had printed signs on registers saying no more whole flame grilled chicken, come back later. I still waited and asked when we need to return. Was told I could purchase straight away, but had to wait 10mins for chicken to be cooked. Didn't have to show anything. ChIcken was nice but not amazing. Thanks OP.

    Went to one store they said wait 20 minutes and then the manager said sold out. Looked like they wanted to stop selling the chicken at a loss. Went to the second store, ordered the chicken they wanted to charge full price. After they heard I wanted the special they said wait for 40 minutes. Came back in at 40 minutes no chicken. They sent most of their staff home and there was only one kid working in the back unusual. Oporto Edmondson park and Oporto Padstow disapointment. Gave up and went to eat shabu shabu instead. Was prepared for the chicken as I bought two regular KFC chicken.

    St Leonards worked, although manager told the cashier only one per person as I was about to order another one. Just got my friend to buy the 2nd one. FYI I did not eat 2 whole chickens, was buying them for a colleagues birthday lunch haha
