Best buy dog food

You guys who know everything about dog foods or even own some dogs, tell me which is THE best dog food on the market. Of course, there are tons and tons of insanely expensive dog foods around. I just want to know the best deal that'a out there.

  • Visit a vet and see if your dog needs any special care with his/her diet. I used to always get premium dry food and cook the wet food. (Royal Canin dry food and chicken/roo boiled with veges and bit of rice for wet food).
But now they are on a special diet, which is both Royal Canin wet and dry food.

Each dog prefers a different taste. Mines don't like Hills or anything else, only Royal Canin. With the premium food, if your dog doesn't like the food, you can return the whole bag back to the shop for a refund/exchange for some other brand.

    • I asked at Petbarn about the returning the bag if my dogs won't eat it. They described some process that meant I had to starve them for a week to try and force them to eat it first. Sounded painful all round I wish they would just provide samples.
btw. I find the 5 kilo bags of kangaroo at Petbarn the best value high protein food and feed them 50-50 kangaroo mince ($5 kilo) and chicken feet ($2 kilo)for bones fat etc. They have kibble available if they want and get our scraps of salad and veges.
I microwave the mince just long enough to get it a few degrees over room temperature which they seem to appreciate.

      • Hmm odd, we didn't have any such problem, definitely not at our vet.
I tend to find a butcher to get roo from. I sometimes give them raw chicken with bones in room temp. I have been warned that chicken too has bit of fat, way better than beef and lamb though. We used to shop at petbarn before. But now shop at budget pet products for food, advantix and Interceptor. Look out for specials and bulk buy them.

Never feed cooked bones. Cooked/boiled meat without bones is fine. Raw bones are also ok.
