Check out this whirlpool thread here on the topic. Lots of info.

What kind of places have it available?

Check the bottom posts in the Whirlpool thread linked above for what cards are currently working.

Android Pay is using NFC so any tap and pay terminal will work.

You can hook up your Amex cards. Only reason I wanted to use it. My phone is too old for Samsung Pay (has NFC though), and obv can't use apple pay. I already had the Commbank app on my phone, but you had to put your pin in so it wasn't worth it. I used it twice this morning down at woolies and at a cafe and it was seamless. Just hold it over a terminal like a card with paypass, no pin or fingerprint or anything (from my two experiences haha).

Yeah I wanted to use my platinum edge.

No way that I would use a Google owned payment processor.

Am i now able to use my amex card through android pay at places that dont usually accept amex? If so, winner!

      Don't think so?

    • +1

No, it's still an Amex and won't work. This is how it works for Apple Pay.

I wonder if it rejects the amex then will it auto try the ANZ visa

It's actually been working for a few months for ANZ since the day Apple Pay for ANZ was announced.

How does the ANZ pay work? Is it like command or nab that requires u to lg in before payment?

Android pay is supposedly seamless. Unlock ur phone and then tap. Runs in background unlike bank apps. So quick for rude customers that r texting or talking on their phones in front of the checkout attendant

It's Apple Pay using ANZ cards.
I use Apple Pay mainly on my watch which is a simple double tap on a physical button to display your default card, swipe left/right to change to visa/Amex etc and hold your watch wrist on the terminal.
I also have it on my phone, which is a double tap of the home button when the phone is locked, it reads your fingerprint and acts as a card like above.
Both are very built into the OS so you can do quickly bring them up without fumbling through apps.

Are we still talking about Android pay or iPhone?

          @Skimpywallet:

I use Apple Pay, which has been working with ANZ for a few months. I have friends who use ANZ and Android and they tried using Android Pay when Apple Pay was announced (a few months ago) and it was also working. So Android Pay for ANZ isn't a brand new thing.
