Pokemon TCG Red & Blue Collection: Charizard EX - $29 + $1.99 Postage @ OzGameShop

120

Saw this on Ozgameshop. This normally goes anywhere between 45 to $50 locally except we dont get the oversized card here in Australia unless imported.

I managed to pull a Mega Charizard Ex out of one the boosters that normally goes for $60 average on eBay. Generations boosters are to Pokemon what Eternal Masters boosters are Magic the Gathering.

Brexit was such a good idea… for Australians wanting to import from uk, because shit is now falling apart overthere XD

  • Generations boosters are to Pokemon what Eternal Masters boosters are Magic the Gathering.

Someone help me out here? I know what MtG is, but have no idea what an Eternal Masters booster is. I've started picking up Pokemon TCG for my kid, but even after getting one of those 'Trainer Packs' am completely lost.

    • I play Pokemon TCG online and love it (so much cheaper then how much I pay IRL) but I haven't heard of either. From what I can gather I think they allow for draws from older cards maybe? Like reprints of older more wanted cards? For like legacy and all that (hope someone can correct me if I'm wrong)

    • I think he's referring to stuff like the "Modern Masters" style collections.

Modern is an "eternal" or non-rotating format played competitively in MtG, Modern Masters booster packs contains valuable cards which are legal in Modern and as such good cards in the packs tend to attract high selling prices. Modern Masters booster packs are packs which span across multiple "sets" of magic, a compendium of good cards of sorts.

OP is making the comparison that the pokemon cards pulled here would have similarly high asking price as it is also a collection type of set collecting the most competitively useful cards in previous pokemon releases(I think).

For your kid one would think pokemon starter sets would be better though, probably comes with a rulebook and a themed deck that they can pick up and play (vs you or the kid down the street) whereas booster cards are just that - random cards to add to your collection with no theme and as such kinda suck for new players who don't know how to play. I mean even if your kid managed to get some 100 dollar card if it doesn't fit their deck they probably won't care for it at all haha.

I don't play Pokemon and cannot offer advice in getting into it. Others who play may be able to help.

  • It goes full circle - pokemans and harry potter both getting rebooted for the next gen
