Melissa and Doug - Magnetic Picture Maker

Hey all,

We're after Melissa and Doug Magnetic Picture Maker, preferably from an AU seller. Here's an image of it.

It's for our friends kid who loves playing with it at his local daycare. They haven't had any luck finding it, so it would be great to give them the gift.

After lots of searching, I haven't been able to find any particularly good deals.

Fishpond (I haven't emailed them for a price yet, due to the issues in the past here - google says $75.77)
Zoxoro $98!
Catch of the Day - out of stock, old deal - would hope that someone would be selling on gumtree :(
Target US $25US no AU shipping.
Alibaba Page doesn't exist anymore, haven't found alternatives while searching site.
Nothing on Gumtree AU
Nothing on Amazon AU
Nothing on eBay AU
Also checked: mightyape, melissaanddoug.com, yogee, toysrus, discounttoyco.com.au, toysparadise.com.au, toygalaxy.com.au, onlinetoys.com.au, purpleturtletoys.com.au.

It would be a shame if the one at the daycare went missing (It's a joke!!!)

Thanks for your time:)

UPDATE: Ordered, thanks everyone for their effort!

  • Consider something else. While Melissa and Doug looks like fun, there is good reason why it is not that popular: it is very limiting, kids will soon grow out of it. How about a very inexpensive Android tablet. There are zillions models, also simpler and more robust models designed specially for younger people…

…and how about this free application. It has thousands of pictures, also there are many similar application. Fun will never end!

      Ordered. Thanks again! :)

      You're a champ +1

      • You did not like my suggestions, this is perfectly OK with me; no one path, no one solution, we are all individuals. But… would it really waste to much of your time to acknowledge and maybe even (shock and horror!) to say thank you, because someone (me) spent five minutes thinking about your question, and replied to it? There is a lesson here for everyone: yes, this is how the Internet works. Do not waste your time trying to be polite and helpful, do not waste your time attempting to have a genuine conversation, or to give advice from your perspective. You will be wasting your time. OK, lesson learned.

I am sure the kids will have great time using Melissa and Doug, have a great day.

        • There's multiple reasons OP might've chosen not to reply:
For 1 thing, they might not have ages to spend on here to reply to everyone, or give everyone a lengthy reply.
For another, they might have felt no need to reply.

Speaking for myself here - Most young kids have tablets, or if they don't it's likely because the parents don't want them to. Now OP is buying for their friend's kid; not their own. Forcing a piece of technology like that onto someone's else's kid just isn't a friends place (imo). Not to mention this point from the OP:

They haven't had any luck finding it, so it would be great to give them the gift.

So OP knows the couple enough to know that they would appreciate the gift.

It's tough enough as it is buying presents for a young kid/toddler, but leave the tech side for the parents/grandparents. Let them decide when their child is old enough for it.

And if you felt you just had to be replied to, acknowledged, then you might need to have a look at yourself in the mirror.

        • I did thank you, and others, for their effort. (See the last line of the edited post above)

I stated in my original post that I wanted to get this particular item as our friends have not been able to find it. Their child has a bond with this toy. Being able to give this gift as a surprise will make our friends, and their child, very happy.

In my mind, I had read everyone's comments, and showed my appreciation with the edit above.

If a group of people gave you suggestions, would you go to each individual person thanking them, or would you say 'thanks everyone'? I think my mind was that OzBargain is a huge group and I was thanking everyone, including those that didn't comment. (Yourself, SpackBase, djones145, jay29043, Jar Jar Binks, and everyone who read this post.)

Thank you again for your reply.

        • . But… would it really waste to much of your time to acknowledge…. because someone (me) spent five minutes thinking about your question, and replied to it?

          So, no reply?

          cough possibly hypocritical?

And to further my point above, we don't know how many people actually looked for the item for me. There could by many users that looked and found nothing (as I did), so didn't make a comment. Should they get less of my appreciation? I think not.
