  • the new fetch TV has wifi, old one was annoying cause it didn't have wifi

I have it, its ok, having Netflix is nice, searching not as easy as using phone and chromecasting

sports channel is good, catch up tv is good, free movies aint bad

    • Can you confirm if the new fetch tv box has wifi? what model is it? A friend of mine is half way into the 2 yr contract and hates having to use the powerline adapter - doesnt work for him.

      • The Fetch TV mighty (Gen 3) has wifi
        I believe it's a $129 upgrade if you don't sign onto a new contract

    • thanks mate. Got my EPL subscription and probably upgrade to the full entertainment package.

    • If u use the netfix app on your phone/tablet on the same network you can cast to netflix on your fetch (if you've got netflix open)

      • icic
didn't know that, thanks for the tip!

  • I bought this which connects to the WIFI and you then use an ethernet cable to connect to up to 4 devices (e.g. Fetch TV)

    • Well it's too late for that because they come with Wifi as standard now.
But when they did need an network cable I just asked for one and whether it's included or not and without having to beg they gave me the powerline adapters for free. Optus can be easily bartered with. I don't like bartering on principle, but you can even do it indirectly.

  • +1

Fetch - I watched it a fee times and then unplugged the box. It's been sitting there for 2 years gathering dust

  • I got lots of use out of it when I first got it, but I eventually lost interest.
I wouldn't pay extra for it, but if it's already included then you may as well check it out.

Personally I prefer internet videos over TV.
TV feels disingenuous and systematic, and I can't stand the advertisements which I can't believe still happen for paid services like Fetch and Foxtel.
Another big thing for me is how TV programmes need to be a specific length when they're being made. They tend to add a huge amount of "fluff" to make shows last the duration of the timeslot.

So what's my review of Fetch TV? Well I'd say it's what you'd expect.
Read through the list of channels.
It's basically Foxtel but through the internet so it's not as "live" (you can return to a channel a minute later and it will be at the same spot, oddly) and there isn't as much content, shows are repeated much more often without anything new being added.
The Netflix is a good feature, but there are cheaper alternatives if you're only interested in that.
I haven't used the Sports Channel.
