ALDI Hobby Tool & Accessory Kit - Not Compatible?

Did anyone buy both of these items?

Is it just me or are the Collet's from the Accessory Kit not thick enough to secure any of the Accessories to the Hobby Tool?

It says on the Hobby Tool box that the Collet size is 4.7mm, but the Accessory Kit contains 4 Collets, 2 x 3.2, 1 x 2.4 and 1 x 1.6mm.

So no 4.7mm that the Hobby Tool requires.

This seems so strange, as obliviously these items are meant to go together, surely I have made a mistake somewhere?

Thoughts?

  • You're supposed to change the collet.

    1. Remove the 4.7mm collet from the tool.

    2. Pick the correctly-sized collet for the accessory from the set you were given.

    3. Put the new collet on the tool.

    4. Insert the accessory you want to use.

At least that's how other hobby tools I've used work. Not sure about the Aldi one.

  • I'm not sure if you mean the Hobby Tool should have come with other size collets or to choose the correct collet from the Accessory Kit?

Cause the Tool only had the one that was installed(that is too big for the kit accessories) and the Kit doesn't have any to fit the Tool. They just fall through.

It's my first Hobby Tool, I don't know if I am making sense, lol.

  • The sizes in the kit match the accessorys in the kit. The size with it match the tools original kit.

Simply swap to the size you need before using your accessory kit tools.

  • The two sizes given are 4.7 for the outside diameter - the size of the collet. The other sizes are for the inside diameter - the size of the tool to fit into it.

  • Maybe I got a bad Accessory Kit, all the Collets from the kit just fell through the opening.

Anyway I returned them and bought a Dremel from Bunnings instead.
