Best Data Options for Being on The Road

Currently with optus on their 10 gig unlimited pre paid (post paid)
And i have to road trip up the east coast soon. I tend to use a lot of data between facebook and spotify

Looking for a second option for more data as i would like to do some live streaming as well
I do have the option to use my old iphone 4 (that i use as a music player) if i need to run a second sim

any ideas?

  • Hook into Telstra Air and Maccas to update your local Spotify library on the road (and therefore reduce a big chunk of streaming data).
Don't Vodafone currently have an Unlimited first month and 30 day change of mind policy?
    Seems ripe for abuse!

    • Wait a second .. I have Telstra internet at home .. which will still be active when i road trip.. Is there a way that i could use a telstra sim and telstra air to use that data on the road or something??

      • Don't even need the Telstra SIM, just need a Telstra Account with Telstra Air Activated.
Telstra Air is WiFi only. Most phone boxes are now set up as hotspots and many Telstra customer's modems are also set up as publicly accessible hotspots (Telstra Air hotspots siphon off a bit of bandwidth from the customer's connection)

    • +1 for downloading playlists for offline. Besides saving on mobile data, it'll be a lot better when you have bad/no reception.

  • Grab a few prepaid starter kits when they come up for sale and use the iPhone 4 as a hotspot.

  • road + trip = telstra + coverage

    • Yes, take a Telstra Sim 100%

Use it for when the others don't have coverage, rather than as the main source given the price.

  • Phonebot are still doing 2Gb Optus SIMs for $3 delivered.

    and a Voda 8Gb for $14.50
