  • Nice. Wish they matched the JB offer yesterday for the LG rather than take it off display and remove it from the website. That $300 eftpos card would have been nice. That full retail price condition was a real let down when I saw it, there's always a catch. I think the price was just too good for the LG and JB must have made a deal with the supplier so other stores would be reluctant to price match, maybe even losing money.

Wish this is the 65" version, would totally buy one.

    • +3

      I buy it if it's a Sony 65" 4K TV for $1895 without $200 EFTPOS Card.

      • +1

Pfft good luck at getting that anytime soon. I just brought the Sony 8500D 55inch for $1400 was able to get a price match on the recent Sony seconds deal :D.

        • The price of the TVs are getting CHEAPER and cheaper by the month. I'm pretty sure I can buy one under 2K before Xmas.

        • @PW: keep dreaming and negging buddy

        • -2

Hey kid, no one has time to neg you. At least I didn't. My predictions were 99% accurate in the past, so don't argue with me, just wait for the 12 days to Xmas deals and you'll know I'm right.

        • @PW: so you are waiting five months for a hypothetical deal? Sounds like I have proved my point….

  • Great deal! I myself was waiting for the 65" aswell, but its never on sale
I know its not 10bit hdr and its not a 100hz but for $1695 its hard to pass by

  • Either it's already gone or the link provided leads to sorry 'page not found' error.

    • +1

      works fine here

      • Yeah probably just got fixed after my comment.

        • +2

Or it was always working and it was a problem at your end.

    • Try turning it off and on again

  • TGG photo shows flat panel. TGG video shows curved.

    • I think the video is just about the 2016 range

  • I was happy with the deal I got on it last week for $2265. Nearly cried when I got the jbhifi email, but I did get a $200 eftpos card.

    • +1

      How is this TV?

    • CC price protection?

    • +1

TGG has price guarantee on competitors so if JB is $1895 you can get $370 back. I know the cashback you got from TGG has nothing to do with price guarantee because i did that before and multiple times.

      • Thanks, applied and it was accepted. Getting my EFTPos card from GG.

  • +1

so how are we getting the gift card at $370? JB has it at 2448 https://www.jbhifi.com.au/Search/results/?keywords=UA60KU600…

I am looking for a 70 inch but this one may suit a smaller room….

  • Sort of a bad time to buy a high end LCD TV though isn't it, what with the rise of the far superior OLED panel?

    • +1

Not really, electronics always drop in price and lose value quickly. Its never going to be the 'right' time. Its depends on what you want right now. A 60" OLED is still 3+ times the price and wont come close to this for eons.

    • Will be years before OLED becomes affordable and mainstream. These 4K LED are at great prices right now and are a good upgrade for those coming from FHD LCD from 5-10 years ago.

  • TV is great, very happy with the purchase.
I will check into the price protection, thanks

  • Picked one up, seems good for the price.

  • Got one locally. Good price and the TV works real well.

  • I went to see it in real life - very disappointed with the 'upscaling'. Low quality input video 720p movies on USB looked pixelated!

This is exactly what I was worried about when it comes to 4k TV's. High resolution tv's with low quality input video - results in a pixelated image.

Do any buyers have different results / turned off any scaling settings that I'm not aware of?

    • Low quality input video 720p movies on USB looked pixelated

Not just because you're watching low quality 720p movies on a 60" TV?

    • 720p movies on USB looked pixelated!

Crap source will look crap on 1080 or 4K.

  • Finally went and picked one up today… 😊
Ended up buying 5 years of 'concierge' services as well… :$

    • +1

I am happy with the one i got :D
I did the same and got 5 years on top, nothing like peace of mind!
Make sure you apply for the 200$ cash back very soon.

      • +1

Yup… The standard 1 year warranty seemed too less for a TV costing more than a thousand bucks…

        Have applied for the $200 cash-back… 😊

        • The 1 year warranty is basically bullshit. Statutuory warranty applies in Australia AND Samsung makes it relatively easy (lol) to win any argument by providing 5 years warranty in Europe!!!

They also give us some downgraded products (lower spec for similar models) at upgraded prices as I found out over the last 2 days researching their TVs. Seems Australia as a fast uptaker of tech is seen as fertile ground for consumer ripoffs in many areas. Those good old "Free Trade" agreements have done wonders - roflmao.

For anyone lucky enough - today is the last day for the Rio cashback promo. (Expensive) TV I was looking at yesterday dropped $300 in price today AND the bonus still applies.

  • Good Guys claimed that we wouldn't be able to make a claim for the cashback at the discounted price, citing the T&C saying "full ticket price". Rather than argue, we just went to JB and bought it at the discounted price.

    • Have heard mixed reports. Time will tell. But you did a smart thing. Assuming you got it for 1695.

    • +1

For the TV I bought the "full ticket price" was, as far as I'm concerned, the advertised price because the image on the website clearly showed the Rio promotion sticker on it. They'll be in hot water if they fail to honour it as the cashback was the primary reason I bought.

Edit: I have an image of the page should they wish to argue the point.

      • Received the $300 card in the post today (at the discounted ticketed price), along with the $50 C&C bonus via email.

        • Good to hear :) Can you give me a mini review on the TV dude?

        • @TRENT86:
Anything in particular you want to know? I bought the SAMSUNG 4K 2016 model UA55KS8000W. Slightly superior to the one in the linked review, which WhatHiFi had as one of its TVs of the year in 2015: http://www.whathifi.com/samsung/ue48ju7000/review

Very light, simple to set up, excellent picture, decent enough sound, a variety of colour and contrast settings to suit your own preferences. Comes with a small connector box separate from the TV which means you only need a couple of cables going to the TV itself even with a surround sound system. The menus are very very good and plenty of connectivity options. Two remotes - one simple, one with the usual array. Has voice activation but haven't set that up and probably won't use it. TV will probably be a few hundred less by Xmas if you can wait. I compared the image with one of its more expensive brothers and an LG OLED - very little between any of them frankly. Samsung has gone with Quantum Dot colour technology in lieu of the more expensive OLED.

Did a lot of research before buying and am happy with the purchase - assuming decent longevity. Most expensive TV I've bought but I expect it to last a decade and so far cannot fault it.

          Hope this is useful.

        • @Possumbly: Thanks heaps bud that helped a lot :) I'm keeping my eye on this one now

    • my good guys in (west Australia - store Clarkson) said it was fine, but if he gave me any discount on top of the $1895, then it would no longer be valid.
seems to be a lot of miscommunication.

I better get that $200 or i will speak directly to who said that to me.
