Amaysim AYG credit now lasts 365 days

Their website says 90 days, but I have just redeemed a voucher and it pushed out my AYG credit to 1/8/2017. So either a fluke for me or they have extended the AYG expiry, which means Amaysim can also be considered for parking a number, or a seldom used service, like Aldimobile.

  • For the purpose of parking a number, you can also use Lycamobile. The credit never expires. You just gotta use it for a call once every 90 days.

I've got a SIM that's 4 years old and it still has the same $20 dollar balance that was loaded onto it since the day it was purchased.

    • Is there anyway of doing this from overseas, short of getting an accomplice?

      • well… it either needs to successfully make a phone call, or receive a phone call. That's the 'trigger' to keep it from expiring.

If you are tech savvy enough, yes. Automation?

With a smartphone and an app, and keeping the phone permanently plugged into the charger, I guess you could automate some phone calls to any number you'd like, once every 3 months.. Lycamobile's international rates are very cheap.

        • Could you set up voice mail and ring it once every 90 days?

    • Everything I see on the Lycamobile site has a 28-day expiry. How do you get this non-expiring credit?

  • I noticed this a couple of days ago, thought it was a glitch. Just recharged another 2 accounts and the expiry date is 365 days now. Hoping it stays this way!

  • Can you buy $10 worth of credit, then use the $9.95 topup 1GB for 1 month then have your mobile sit there for the rest of the year on nearly empty credit? (not expire, no number) ??

    • Sure, you don't even have to buy a data pack right away ($9.9 actually), as your $10 credit lasts 365 days.

      • Has to be in store right? I've only ever added 1GB to my SIM online.

        • No you can buy SIMs and vouchers at supermarkets and convenience stores. But redeeming credit for a data pack is done online or via SMS, or probably via voice call, if one has to.

        • @greenpossum: That's what I mean, doing it in person rather than over the internet and "adding credit".

Edit: Just topped up $10 online. $9.90 for data pack next month and says Expiration date is 1 year from now. Excellent. Amaysim is making my life SO good.

        • @StoneSin: Mind you, that expiration date is for the 10c remaining, not the data pack. That expires in 30 days. It's a bit confusing if you text Bal to 568, because then it replies that the credit expiration is in 30 days, but it's actually in 365 days.

        • @greenpossum: Yeah no worries. As long as I have a number for a year, I'll decide which months to get data. It works awesome for me.

I use like 50MB a month. I barely need a phone in Australia at all.
