Please recommend me a smart battery charger?

G'day guys, new to the eneloop game here!

I grabbed the family packs that were on sale a few weeks ago but I'd like to avoid using the dumb charger they came with. I've seen a few different chargers mentioned on sales before but I'm really not sure which one offers the best features for the price.

Happy to spend ~$50+ on something good that'll last a long time.

  • Nitecore D4 - Has been as low as around $23 US via Bangood, delivered on eBay for around $45 at the moment.

  • This is the ultimate, http://www.protog.com.au/buy/maha-powerex-mh-c9000-wizardone…
I got this for around $70 during a sale while back.

  • I have one of the LaCrosse chargers and also a Nitecore D4. Both are excellent and charge your batteries and look after them as well. In addition they give you useful info about the starting voltage, rate of charging, etc and the stop charging when the battery/ies are charged (and stop charging the one that's charged while continuing to charge the one not fully charged). The D4 has thadded advantage of being able to charge 18650 type batteries as well as AA/AAA. You can't go wrong with either. I expect the MAHA is equally good, but as I only have xxx eneloops I only need 2 chargers!

  • All of the above chargers (Nitecore, Maha and LaCrosse) are a bit old-school and have some (minor) issues, such as undercharging or refusing to charge some batteries. I highly recommend SkyRC NC-2500.

If you want to upgrade to a charger that is a bit future proof and handles many other chemistries and sizes, you might want to look at SkyRC MC-3000
