How long until we start seeing deals on the HTC 10?

Right now HTC 10 looks like a great phone, but for the same price (relatively) as a Galaxy S7 I probably wouldn't budge.

Anyone have any idea when I'd be able to start getting HTC at reduced sellers like TheGoodGuys or even just somewhere that offers a great deal? DWI, Kogan, etc.

  • Not to be a Negative Nancy, but why?
    There's the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.
There's the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, and Mi 5 (also there's Mi Note Pro, Mi 4C, Mi 4S)
    There's the OnePlus 3.
    There's the ZTE Axon 7.
…and even cheaper Galaxy S6's/iPhone 6 Pluses popping up.

HTC looks like a defeated OEM.
Even the HTC Vive isn't a HTC product, it's designed and made by Valve (from Steam), HTC just makes the plastic and box.

    • And all the things you said still don't change the fact that the 10 is a great phone. The nexus phones you mentioned are last year's tech, and the Chinese phones you mentioned simply lack some aussie bands especially B28/700mhz 4G. Recent camera comparisons also reveal that the 10 has the best or one of the best phone cameras on the market, and I'm pretty sure none of the phones you mentioned are capable of that.

    • Not sure why you would say it's a defeated product, HTC 10 looks good. I don't want a Nexus, OnePlus, or any of that. I haven't looked into Xiaomis yet.

Basically I'm tossing between Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC 10.

    • Don't get your panties in a bunch but out of all the phones you listed above, I'll buy none. I was M7, M8 and now waiting for my budget to suit 10 so I can pounce on it like a fat kid love cake.

  • HTC presumably got a price cut the UK and the US, due to slow sales.

but no matter how you look at it, the asking price of $1,099 at Harvey seems a bit much. Low-cost mobile phones from the likes of OnePlus, Xiaomi etc are all undoubtedly very good bang for buck, making it very hard to justify getting the HTC 10 (at least, for the regular Joe Citizen who just needs a good device at a fair price) — I believe that past the 600 dollar mark you are getting diminishing returns from the hardware and a $1k super-phone should only be purchased if you are chasing after trends, want latest generation SOC's or wanting to keep up with the joneses.

If a $1000 superphone is what you want, then I think the HTC 10 is the under-dog of the competition.

I personally would go with the S7 or 7 Edge, if you want a phone that is truly awesome and you have wallets deep enough for it, the Samsung takes better photos, is a few mm thinner than the HTC and is waterproof to boot.

    • Allegedly waterproof you mean..

    • I think the fast charge, the USB C connector, the expandable memory, the no bloatware, and the 24bit DAC sound put the HTC10 well over the S7 in the value for money as well as premium features. Personal preference aside it's a better phone, you may like the S7 better but I think truly awesome phones are measured more by these factors rather than a couple mm thinner, a no guarantee waterproof rating and a subjective camera comparison.
