  you need to exit optus to another provider before going back to optus.
  that could be via a $2 sim and could be done same day (if the porting process works quickly).

    oh ok thanks so if i were to buy a 2 dollar sim can i use that same 2 dollar sim each month or do i need a new 2 dollar sim each month

        @bob123456: Some do and some don't. Look at the back of the pack, if there's a date, then yes. Optus ones do.

        Also be aware that Optus <-> Optus MVNO (e.g. Amaysim) will take longer due to manual intervention required at Optus (shortcoming in their infrastructure). I can vouch that this happens, but I didn't care about the delay which was 1.5 days in my case.

  I have a stack of Optus and Telstra starter packs from last year's supermarket specials for this reason. So that I can port between them.

  Or you can order the free Lycamobile sim from their website. They will post one out to you for free and it usually delivers in a few days.
