Best AmEx Card to Go for?

Hi Guys,

There are so many different deals/perks on Amex cards.

Is there any deals at the moment that "Look the best"?

I cant decide with so many options!

i am going to Japan in a few months but already booked flights through qantas so won't be able to spend any travel credit.
Do any cards offer Qantas lounge access? I fly fairly regularly but would rather not fork out the $500

The Qantas American Express looks pretty decent with bonus 50k points. thoughts?

Thanks!

With two credit card applications (Amex with referral & NAB Amex/Visa combo), you're able to fly business class to Japan return (with free lounge access) for $1000 AND get yourself a free domestic flight for your trouble.

Is your Qantas flight refundable? Odds are Qantas cost you more than $1000.

You can buy Qantas passes on the forum - going rate varies, but around $50 per entry.

    • The flight is booked for January Next year(Return). I will see if i can cancel!

What is the NAB Amex/Visa combo?

      Thanks!

      • I've shot you a PM about it - but its Amex Velocity + NAB Velocity using points.

  • Also trying to decide which one to go for… What is the best deal at the moment for an Amex card that earns the most points for flights? Would probably spend about $1200 on average a month.

    • Which airline?

      • Doesn't really matter, whatever is best value. I currently have an account with Qantas FF

Is the CBA platinum or diamond worth it? They have a no fee offer at the moment.

If you are targeting qantas ff, have a look at the Qantas branded Amex cards from Amex direct. Bank issued Amex cards have a lower point yield.

        • @Holysmoke:

The Qantas amex discovery is no fee but only 1 Qantas FF per dollar

Premium is 2 FF per dollar with $249 annual fee, and ultimate is 3 FF per dollar with $450 annual fee.

Doesn't the make the CBA diamond deal better with no annual fee for the first year and 3 FF per dollar??

@ISTJ: Good deal if no annual fee. With the Amex Ultimate you get 80,000 bonus points with referral for the $450 annual fee. So just need to toss up which you prefer.
