Mazda 3 New Car Warranty

Hi guys,

I wanted to get some advice/info on my Mazda 3. I bought it last November from Mazda Nowra.

Over last 2 weeks I saw the plastic near the top of the front passenger seat belt out of order. Since I was taking the car for a service soon I thought I ll have it checked then. Upon having it checked today at West End Mazda Blacktown, I was told that there is something wrong with the airbag. Whats even more frustrating is that I was told I did this and the Blacktown dealership refused to fix it under new car warranty. It's baffling to me how I could have damaged the air bag of the car which has never been in an accident.

What do you guys think? Shouldnt this be covered under new car warranty? I have contacted Mazda Nowra and waiting to hear back from them. There were couple of other issues as well which Blacktown dealership flatly refused to fix which makes me wonder if they are not willing to bear the cost for the repair since the car was not purchased from them.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys

Take it to another dealership. Get that 2nd opinion. You'll be able to get that quicker than a response from Mazda

  • "never been in an accident"

    You sure?

They cannot refuse a valid warranty claim. It's billed back to Mazda Australia anyway.
I'd take it elsewhere if you can because it's clear they are going to provide crap service if they did fix it anyway. I would steer clear.

  • What did they say is 'wrong' with the airbag? If it's external damage then it's on you. I'm sure they'd replace a warrantable part, they'll get paid by Mazda to do it.
