Kogan Phone Replacement for LG G4

Hi

I was just wondering if someone might be able to give some advice.. I bought a LG G4 from Kogan last year and I have generally been happy with it (overheating issues aside) until it had the boot loop error last week :-(

Kogan have given me a $700 store credit to get another phone, what do people recommend? I really am only wanting a good camera and micro sd storage I think as my phone fills up quickly with pics, videos etc. Maybe removable battery too?!

I just want something that can be fixed relatively easy locally if the screen breaks etc and has the right bands for oz 4G?

Thank you!!

The phones's warranty belongs to the nation were phone was originally launched, so if you buy a Samsung or HTC droid or whatever and it is not the Australian model, you basically forfeit manufacturer warranty and will have to be covered by Kogan's.

Repairs are not the issue — there are repair centers locally for Sony, Samsung and so on…, but rather, it's the cost of repairing the device, which you'll need to pay in full because the device is considered out of warranty.

Kogan will cover your first year so if your device fails you'll ship it back to them and they can handle it, but the story is different once that year passes.

    • I see, so even paying the full cost of a screen repair here can be so costly it's not even worth it? Thank you

      • smashed screens are not covered by any warranty, unless otherwise stated. It doesn't matter whether you bought the phone locally from JB Hifi or internationally from Kogan — physical damage is excluded.

The LG G5, in a special offer, is actually covered but it only applied to people who bought the phone in a certain time period and from selected stores

If you break the screen, that's not a manufacturer defect, the user was the one who damaged it. So you would need to insure your phone against that kind of accident.

Bootlooping is a good example of a defective product however and that's claimable under warranty.

        • Okay thank you. Looking at phones here from jb hifi etc they all have 1 years manufacture warranty anyway so there doesn't seem to be a great benefit of buying locally then

          @sarahloup:

2 years warranty for Samsung phone and tablets.

I was able to get an S5 repaired 15 months after ownership. It took a while though, but I did eventually get a brand new S5 given to me.

        • @scrimshaw: ah that's good! Thank you!

    • Thanks but am nervous to go with LG again due to the boot loop fault. It seems that LG G5 is experiencing it now :-(

Sell the voucher for $600 and get a China droid?

Don't go with Kogan, get your money back

    • I don't think I can but worth a try!

  • Nexus 6p

  • Get a phone worth the credit or a bit more than sell it and get a redmi note pro or what ever its call for a fraction of the price and pocket the rest.

  • Get the Nexus 6P.

Or sell the credit as someone said and get Huawei 5X which also feels premium and you still have ~$250 to play with.

Must be cutting down their offers. I got offered a G4 replacment which i agreed too. Then got an email saying there is no G4 stock and offered me a samsung A8 which i knocked back. I did ask for a G5 and they knocked me back. Now getting a refund.
Been over a month since sent it to them.
