Please Recommend Me a Car Dash Cam!

Hi, I used have a dash cam but unfortunately the suction cup is f****d and not sticking to the windscreen anymore. I need another one now (>$100) so can you guys please recommend me one? I've seen a couple of deals (A118C&G1W-CB) but people have said that license plates are not clear in their videos and that it did not survive in Australia's summer. Also I don't want to have another dash cam that decides not to stick to the windshield after half a year again. I prefer the camera to be charged using a usb cable so I can still use my 4-port car charger.

I use this style of cam.

it attaches with 3m sticky pad and never comes off. Very discreet too. Mine is a few years old now and lower spec than this looks to be. Mine number plates are sometimes readable, but maybe the newer ones are better?

    • I had two of those, the first one was a 720p one which was only good close up. That one died recently and I got another (a 1080p one) which was utter shit. The 1080p was an upscaled 720p image and the quality was potato like. But yes, the 3M sticky pad is the bomb.

  • I've had my a118c and g1w-cb for ages and they still work perfectly fine, can see license plates fine too.
I had an issue with one of my g1ws but got it exchanged and the new one works perfectly

  • been using the a118c for about half a year now
works flawlessly, good value, looks stealthy

  • Gearbest has the a118c for $48.50 but there are very bad reviews about gearbest on Ozbargain.

  • The thing about a188c is that people have been saying it didn't survive the summer heat. I want something that can last, so is a188c still an option?

    • supposedly the capacitor "c" versions were designed to withstand over heating as opposed to the battery versions

  • I'm interested in buying one of the car dash cameras too which one is recommended?
Is there any that covers back n front?
    Thanks heaps

    • Xiaomi Yi uses batteries. Apparently doesn't last as long in Australia's summer weather

      • Fair enough, Thanks
Are you recommending 188c? is the quality of the 188c good?

        • I'd say it's bang for buck but I think i'm going to go with the a119

I've been using G1W-C for 2 years now and it has had no problems in the summer heat. License plates are visible at a reasonable distance.
